Baking, cooking, and all that jazz...

Today was CG's last day at work, so I ended up making that red velvet cake that I was talking about last week. I think that it went over fairly well...





That second picture? Was less than half an hour after it was first cut. That last slice disappeared shortly afterward.

I'm more than a little amused by how shocked everyone at work was that I'd made the cake from scratch. I mean, I don't bake/cook/etc. all that often, what with the whole "living by myself" thing, but I do know how to read a recipe and follow the directions. I'm Southern. It was practically required by law that I know how to cook.

(More importantly, it's not like it's the first time I've brought in something that I made. I know that I brought in a coconut pie awhile back, and I brought in a batch of cookies just before we closed for the holidays.)
