Summary: Florist Zhou Mi likes the boy who passes by to his workplace. Heechul is his insane manager who pokes fun about his interest. And Eeteuk and Yesung are a duo of gossipers helping Zhou Mi to his interest... well, maybe?
And the boy who passes by at the flower shop happens to be allergic to flowers... and flower boys. Problem and hilarity, stage left!
*
It was impossible not to miss him again. There he was, walking with headphones attached to both ears and holding a PSP with fast-clicking hands. He wasn't looking anywhere, not even aware of Zhou Mi's fond gaze following him until he was too far away from the flower shop.
Zhou Mi let out a deep sigh when the boy disappeared. Who was he? Who was that boy with tousled, brown hair and full lips? What was his name?
Those were just some of the things Zhou Mi thought every time that boy passed by for the previous weeks - and it began during Zhou Mi's first day of work at the flower shop of the amazing Kim Heechul, his manager.
"Seasoning! You're missing watering the Petunia-babies again! Give me that nozzle!"
That was then Zhou Mi realized that he was, oh yeah, just outside the shop, tending to fully bloomed flowers with a running hose in hand. He was getting distracted for the nth time of this week than he could allow.
"Ah-oh, sorry."
Heechul gave him the I-know-what's-wrong-with-you look. "Did the kid pass by again? Didn't I tell you to approach him already? Just get it over with and talk to him!"
"I-I don't know..."
It wasn't that Zhou Mi didn't think of that option before but suddenly approaching him as a stranger with flowers in hand and big, sunshine smiles on lips might scare the latter away.
He wasn't exactly the most good-looking flower guy around the neighborhood to get swooned at at first sight too, he added, much to his dismay.
This was better, he told himself - better to just quietly admire the good-looking boy from afar.
But he guessed Heechul wouldn't live it down just like that.
"If I see that kid again, I swear I'll drag him here and---
The bell dinged - there was a customer - and Zhou Mi miraculously escaped another sermon-round from his manager when the latter waltzed right back in the shop with open-arms and blinding smiles at their clients.
"Oh, welcome to Cinderella's!"
----
"Gege! I didn't know you'd be dropping by! Are these the new flowers from the main house?"
Hankyung greeted with heavy breathing as he placed down pots and boxes of freshly picked flowers at back-room with Zhou Mi happily watching him from the sides. He swiped his sweat-covered forehead with the back of his hand and beamed.
"Yeah, well, your boss here wanted blue roses all of sudden. This wasn't supposed to be delivered until next week. He even made five orders of it!" He said in exasperated manner, almost throwing his hand up on the air in defeat. "Why is Heechul torturing me like this?"
"Hyung just likes you." Zhou Mi said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Well, it was no secret really, since Heechul practically PR-ed his feelings - harmful to just plain playful - to the Chinese delivery man the moment the manager laid eyes on Hankyung.
The older man cringed, as if shuddering at the words itself. "No way, he wants to make my life so miserable because he can't find entertainment here! What am I, his amusement park?"
"That you are, Geng!" From the back-room's entrance stood a smirking Heechul in pink apron. "Now, my amusement park, bring three dozens of those rose out here and you, Seasoning, start wrapping up flowers! We got orders!"
Currently, Cinderella's was manned by three people only: Delivery man Hankyung, Employee Zhou Mi and Manager Heechul.
Three was a crowd, Zhou Mi mused as he watched the two bickered - "You're a slave driver! You're a Hitler in disguise!" and then "Well, aren't you my slave? Ohohoho!" - as they made their way out of the room. Hadn't the two noticed that unusual smiles on their lips when they were around each other?
Probably not.
Yet.
And Zhou Mi smiled at that.
It was again the inevitable that when they were out in the main store area, Zhou Mi once again saw the boy through their large glass window. Out there was him and two friends - a feminine-man with pink decorations on him and a smaller one with prominent cheekbones. They were chattering enthusiastically and Zhou Mi wondered what the boy's voice sounded like.
He got distracted again and Heechul bonked him with an unfinished wedding wreath.
"WORK!"
Hankyung leaned in close and whispered. "I told you he's a spawn of Hitle--OWW!"
The wedding wreath never really got to be finished. It just got worse.
-----
The phone rang loudly the next day, when Zhou Mi was trying to be less obvious looking through window while he was at the counter waiting for a certain passer-by. He was half-attentive when he picked it up because Heechul was busy making the delivery-man's life a living Hell at the store's front.
"Hel--
"HEENIM! I JUST FOUND OUT FROM ONE MY CUSTOMERS THAT THE KID'S NAME IS KYUHYUN! NOW I WANT THAT 30 BUCKS YOU OWE ME!"
Zhou Mi blinked at the receiver. "Eeteuk-sshi...?"
There was a long, quiet pause... followed by an "uh-oh." from the backgrounds which never sounded good when Eeteuk of Miracle Cafe across the street was in collaboration (or worse, conspiracy?!) with Heechul of Cinderella's. Trouble was clearly up ahead, Zhou Mi anticipated already.
Evening did clarify trouble when Heechul called for an emergency meeting - with him and Hankyung - during closing hours.
"One of the boys of your little crush is a regular customer at Miracle Cafe and thanks to me, of course, I asked Teukie to know the kid's name!
"You did what?!" Zhou Mi stared agape and he was ready to be swallowed delightfully by the floors out of embarrassment. "You told Eeteuk-sshi?!"
"My amazing connections and instinct told me to tell him. There's no need to worry about that! Teukie understands that Cinderella's people are a couple of gay guys, really. I mean, who insane man would work at a girly shop like this? US, OF COURSE!"
Hankyung interjected, coughing against his hand. "I'm being dragged here against my will. BY YOU."
"Oh, shut up and clean the floor, disneyland."
Zhou Mi banged his head against the cool, glass window as if trying to find comfort. It didn't and the anxiety only worsened when Heechul sashayed inside the back room with empty containers in hand, hollering back at him.
"Get ready tomorrow, Seasoning! You're about to meet Kyuhyun in the hands of Cupid Heechul and his second banana, Geng!"
"Who you calling second banana?!"
"Oh, I love you too!"
Zhou Mi gulped and contemplated of missing out work tomorrow. But then again, this was a chance, right? Still, this was Heechul who made all things impossible to possible, he was talking about. Trouble loved Heechul and Heechul loved it back.
Uh, oh.
