Why do I have to put up with this shi-
Colorful profanities should ensue but the moment Sungmin made a hurried turn at the corner, he made body contact with an unidentified person by accident. “Ah! I’m sorry! I wasn’t loo-
Sungmin looked up and frowned inwardly at the sight of Kyuhyun just looking at him with a blank expression, as if unconcerned of what just happened. The model just had to wonder: why was Kyuhyun always looking like this? It would seem that Kyuhyun wore that kind of expression by default.
Kyuhyun cleared his throat at the growing silence. “Hey, see you at the studio later.” He said rather blandly before leaving Sungmin, and walked out of the building with big bags on his shoulder. He seemed to be in a hurry, Sungmin had figured after a moment.
It was already DAY SIX since Kyuhyun the photographer arrived and did nothing but remarked and scrutinized Sungmin’s facial expressions. Even the staff took noticed of how unconvinced the younger male towards the model’s choice of smiles and looks. When shoots were supposed to be only an hour or two, it would stretch to four and five hours because of Kyuhyun’s arguments with Sungmin.
“No, you’re doing it wrong.”
“That expression, NO.”
“…”
Those were just some of the comments flying out from the photographer’s lips each and every time they shoot. No one really understood what was going on inside the younger man’s head -even Sungmin, who grew to dislike more of his rudeness and aloofness- but dropped the idea of confronting him. After all, it was photographer thing to do.
Or something like that.
Indeed, Sungmin tried tolerating Kyuhyun's strange behaviors - even the behavior the younger male did with him days ago, but when the next shoot took place, it was the last straw for Sungmin.
"Wrong. Wrong. Wrong." Kyuhyun told in an exasperated manner as he pulled away from his lens and looked straight at the confused Sungmin standing inside simple bedroom-inspired set. The model wanted to glare badly and ask just what Kyuhyun's problem was and--OOPS. It would seem that the older male couldn't take it anymore as well.
"Just exactly what do you want, anyway? I've been doing everything, EVERY POSE you ask and you'd still disapprove! It's tiring, you know?" This kind of retort coming from a polite artist successfully won curious glances from the staff but the model didn't give a damn about them. He just wanted to deal with an unpredictable photographer and get this day again over with.
Unbeknownst to Sungmin, this was EVER the first time for him and a photographer to interact between shots. Previously, he didn't notice, that it was each to their own - photographer to shoot and model to pose. No relating or talking or commenting whatsoever happened until a certain younger one arrived.
"You... are not wearing the right expression at all. You do not connect with the elements around you." The photographer explained which earned surprised reactions from the watchers since this was the longest sentence Kyuhyun had said! However, Sungmin's reaction could be described as what the hell are you talking about kind of expression.
Kyuhyun then asked the most random thing Sungmin had never heard in all of his modeling career. It was too random that he had no idea just what exactly would this do. "What's your favorite color?"
"Ex...cuse me?" Sungmin looked at him like he was drunk. But how could that be? It was only 7PM and Kyuhyun arrived at the studio still looking expressionless as he remembered from earlier.
"Just answer. Quickly."
"Ugh. Fine. Pink. Happy?"
Hold it. If someone looked at a closer distance, they would notice Kyuhyun's lips molding into a little smile. Sungmin witnessed this and grew mystified at the photographer's sudden change of mood. Wait. He's happy about that?
Just what was going on?
But the staff weren't as bewildered as their star model. In fact, most of them began noticing how interesting and amusing the scenario before their eyes. If they were to voice out their thoughts, majority of them would say that Cho Kyuhyun did his job interestingly entertaining with his way of saying and doing things
"Alright then. Everyone, please bring anything that is pink at the set now. And take out anything that is earthy-color. The lights from the left side, bring it closer. I also need more flash near the backdrop please." The younger man clapped and brought about his camera to a now different angle. Upon hearing orders, the staff were too happy to comply and did as they were told - like obedient little lambs. Sungmin watched in utter shock at this development.
"W-w-wait...! Just what are you trying to do?! You can't just mess up the plan!"
But Kyuhyun flashed a smirk and remained mum as the set changed quickly and completely to a whole new scenario that was pink. It wasn't horrible actually; the staff made the right adjustments even thought it was a last-minute task. So right now, in the middle of pink-paradise stood what looked like a fitting model for the right shoot. This had never happened until Kyuhyun arrived and managed - Sungmin looked like he was standing out like never before with a new and genuine appearance.
"Much MUCH better." Was all Kyuhyun could say as he watched the model's eyes twinkle in surprise mixed awe at the surrounding. "Don't you get it? Wouldn't it be much better if there was a part of you included in the shoot? And not just putting up some expression you took out from god-knows-where? Wearing that smile you had on before is not real. This--" Kyuhyun gestured the new set-up then pointed at him. "--is real. THIS is you."
The next shoots that happened under Kyuhyun's witty management turned into a whole new leaf that everyone seemed to be enjoying about. The constant asking and knowing more about the model was the basis of all the shoots that took place - Sungmin's interest with wine (so there was a wine-inspired shoot), with music (and he had to wear rocking outfits and dye his hair completely, much to Eeteuk's shrilling screams of shock) and just about anything that was related to Sungmin.
Everyone was enjoying, alright, except for the model.
Sungmin was plain baffled with Kyuhyun's actions and decisions. What was he trying to achieve by doing a shoot inspired by the model himself? The more revelation coming from Sungmin that the younger man would discover, the more shoots were planned to be held. Just what are you trying to do to me, Cho Kyuhyun?
But despite this cynicism, Sungmin found himself a bit happy knowing that the pretending persona shoots were long forgotten and undone. He was asked by Kyuhyun to just be himself even though he was tad shy about showing some true colors. In the end, he pulled off expressions and poses he never thought would suit him, well, perfectly.
"Alright, we're done here." Kyuhyun announced as he browsed through his camera, not looking up to the cheery crowd at the back. Everyone looked hyper despite the late hours and began packing and arranging for the next shoot to be announced tomorrow. Sungmin remained to where he was though - at the set-up area with a resolve look on his face.
"Why--" Sungmin started once he and Kyuhyun were the only ones inside the studio. Eeteuk had mentioned he'd be running back to them after bidding thank's and good-bye's to the hard-working staff outside. "--are you doing this? I don't get you."
Kyuhyun finally looked up from his LCD and watched Sungmin continue. "You planning the shoots like this, winning everyone's favors and--
"And what?"
Sungmin bit his lower lips and faced away. "--and discovering the mask I've been wearing. You simply caught me off-guard so easily. Don't you know who I am? How can someone like you.. so easily..." The last question sounded like a bit egoistic but Sungmin just had to know. These days had been fun and interesting, but by the end of each shoot, Sungmin was bothered with a lot of Kyuhyun-related things. It drove him insane, if he could be honest to admit. How could someone like Cho Kyuhyun to Lee Sungmin...
"What about you? Do you?"
"I'm--
Sungmin was at loss for words and could no longer think of anything to retort back. Now the that he realized it, only Kyuhyun - Cho Kyuhyun - showed him who the model really was. The asking, the discoveries, the realization through taking of photo, through photography.
Kyuhyun wanted to capture the real him. The real him - no pretense and mask. Only him. Oh, my god...
Sungmin saw the younger male placing his camera down to the nearest table and advanced to where he was; the look in the student-photographer's eyes was something the model had to notice because it was a gaze he had never receive from Kyuhyun before. This intense, soulful gaze. "Dammit. You're making it hard for me."
"What the hell? I thought we were over this. I thought I was already showing you a ge--
Sungmin was silenced by something he never thought of happening - a kiss. Kyuhyun had managed to grab him by the face and pull him into a crushing and head-spinning lip-lock. By reflex, the model's eyes closed, much to his mental objection to NOT respond out of embarrassment, but his mouth gradually moved sensually in rhythm with Kyuhyun's. Not long after, the kiss turned wet and deep, with their tongues participating in a dominance battle.
"I wasn't supposed to do this until later but dammit." Kyuhyun murmured between their kisses and shoved Sungmin against the backdrop and pinned him like a helpless prisoner. The model squirmed at his grasp and their closeness - too close that it was insane - of their bodies but did not show actual disapproval. Instead Sungmin gazed at Kyuhyun in a manner that he looked like he was lost and confused.
Kyuhyun leaned in and neared his mouth to the outer shell of Sungmin's sensitive ears and whispered, "The real you, that is what I want. The more I know about you, the more you drive me crazy. Ever since day one. That is why I did this... to help you discover who you really are."
Sungmin had wanted to say something back about Kyuhyun and snarky attitudes and weird personality of photographers but was lost completely when the younger one nipped and licked his defenseless earlobe and further pushed his body against the model's own. There was the sharp intake of air from Sungmin as Kyuhyun began planting and trailing kisses on his neck, chin down to his collarbone while two hands gently then tightly gripped his little waist and snaked around the remaining to-be-touched parts of Sungmin's body.
"Ah..." The model shivered; his cheeks burning and senses malfunctioning as the two found their lips in contact again in a demanding, playful, hungry and passionate kiss.
Right now, it would have seemed that Sungmin was no longer the loneliest one when there was Kyuhyun at his side, mind and heart.
Damn you, Kyu...
