I had such ambition for the weekend. I wanted to pencil and ink at least six pages for my comic but I ended up only pencilling two. On Saturday I ended up hosting a charity Strip Chess Exhibition Tournament for someone in Russia who only has two dollars a day to eat with--we ended up raising 108 dollars, which I'm rather pleased with. We finished with Romantic Poets yesterday by looking at John Keats, who I'd been reading for five days beforehand. I was surprised to find I really like him--for some reason I expected him to be another Wordsworth, maybe because Lord Byron didn't like his work. I was rather annoyed to find my text book presents only an abridged version of Lord Byron's "Don Juan" so I got the whole thing for my Kindle. I'm glad I did, or I'd have missed the dedication which contains the stanza;

I've been to school and the mall to-day, for lunch, and so far I've witnessed a remarkable shortage of the couples fighting or giving each other resentful cold shoulders I usually see on Valentine's Day. Seems like I saw a lot of single people, too. And lots of pretty girls, smiling and carrying around bunches of balloons or stuffed animals ( Read more... )
