Crunch Months - YCon 2010

Sep 07, 2010 22:44

Ten years ago, on a much smaller and more insular internet, I found a website for a little gathering called 'YaoiCon'. I was still two years and a month too young to attend, being only 15 with a birthday coming up in September.

Until now, the only time I've attended the event was in 2005, to see mangaka Higuri You and Kazuma Kodaka. This year is YCon's tenth anniversary. This year I get to go again, to see seiyuu Kiuchi Hidenobu and Okiayu Ryoutarou, as well as the awesome author Lynn Flewelling (otterdance ).

Since YCon is usually around Halloween, a holiday which I can almost never take off in my industry, this may be the last time I get a chance to attend for a while. Also, Okiayu Ryoutarou. I mean... I would travel almost anywhere in the world to meet this man in person. So. Yeah.

Since it worked pretty well for AO, here's my list of stuff to get done before the con:

Akram
To Do:
-press main robe (and have dry-cleaned?)
-remake mask
-make brooch and cloak-thing
Progress:
-9/23 - picked up a large kilt pin and some small bronze frames that may work to helkp construct the broach

Shitenhouji - Shiraishi and Chitose
To Do:
-find fabric (tinfoil_starz , what material are your uniforms in? So we could consider matching...) 9/23 - All base fabrics bought (and dyed)! Ready to work.
-set up screen for front, back and sleeve printing
-get green ink (neutrals set?
-Kura Wig: find a new wig store, or order a blonde funflip from Life of the Party
--(possibly Gigi in 613 blonde?)
-Find geta for Jess?
-Work out a bandage thing for Kura (consider making some sort of terrible gold bracer to wear under it)
Progress:
9/18 - Did some test-dying on a few knits
9/19 - tried a few coloring methods and did the math to discover that the Yudu screen is not large enough for my purposes. Painting with dye is insane and the spray fabric paint gives very poor flow control.
9/22 - Found exactly the right green knit at Hancock. Brought four yards home with me. XD
9/23 - Dyed 7 yards of ivory interlock and a yard of ivory rib knit sunshine yellow. Can start cutting out pieces tomorrow.
9/24 - One polo completely cut out, did some math and calculations for the screen printing, sleeves assembled and front panels finished at the center edge.
9/25 - set up shiny new printer and exposed screen

Seigaku - Tezuka and Fuji
-get new material for pants
-set up screens for Seigaku pants
-find Fuji's wig
-consider remaking Fuji's jacket to not have the nasty trash bag look

Hyoutei - Oshitari and Gakuto
-Remake Gakuto's pants - need new twill tape down the sides and binding for ankles
-consider replacing side front jacket and polo panels with screen-printed ones
-Better Yuushi glasses? Always a problem.
