Today was special. And by special I mean that I went home about 2 hours after arriving. We needed to cut hours. Big time. Which we knew... but having the DTL bite my head off about it wasn't exactly the way I wanted to be reminded of it. I guess that's the downside of being an OTL that, y'know... isn't.
So, I went back in after going home and got Masaomi's kimono and lining cut out. I haven't started assembly yet, but I did do some test swatches for the flowers that I get to paint on it.
This one was mostly just to test out different styles of outlining.
This is what I think I'll use for the whole thing. The outlining is in gold metallic fabric paint and there's some slight lavender shading in the centers of the blossoms.
The only other thought that I have is to outline it all in dark purple, but I'm not sure I like how solidly definied it looks that way... I like the slight blurriness of the gold. It also dresses the kimono up just a bit. I'm a little sensitive about how informal Masaomi will look next to the brocade and gold of Tomomori. On the other hand, the purple might help tie it in to the bolero so... >.>
Test 3 - covering all of test 1 with purple outlining....
