I finally stopped being flaily a while ago. We finally went shopping for groceries. My stuff was around $50, the shared stuff was only $40. I still don't have pencils, 10x10 graph paper or flat thumb tacks. -.-
We're both almost out of our Good Times gift cards from Kat. (You fed us for a whole month+! Sankyuu~ <3 ^^)
summerqueen emailed me today about the /awesome/ that will be Fanime. It made me nervous and excited and everything. Maybe that started me being flaily.

At least... that's what /I'm/ blaming for not getting things done.
I worked a bit on Kagetoki's wrap pants last weekend, and they're going to work out as soon as I get over my flipping out and trying to save fabric and just get it done.
See... I have this problem. I'm so worried that I'm going to screw something up that I'm actually trying to /save/ enough fabric to do everything over. I have double lining, double suede, and almost enough left of the cotton for the pants. So I keep trying to talk myself out of thing like, cutting off more for straps and things. This is rediculously stupid, but that doesn't make it any easier to let go of the fear. Costumes for other people are so much harder. ;_;
And then there's Saku. I spent a lot of time today looking for a fabric to use for her main kimono. I think I'll be painting the designs onto it, and so it needs to be plain, not shiny, not have a pattern of it's own (at least not an obvious one)... so far my favorite option is dupioni silk shantung. It costs $16 A YARD and never goes on sale. -.-;; The other option is Casa Crepe... but for some reason I'm really loathe to use it for her. I really want lightweight silk crepe... but they really don't sell that at my store. And it wouldn't likely be any cheaper than the dupioni.
[ETA: Just spent an hour looking for silk crepe.
This site is deadly, but the forums are very interesting. I think what I really want is this or perhaps the coconut color. But as $50/yd is out of my price range... They make the same color in a 16mm crepe (lighter weight) for only $17 a yard... but that still seems frightening when I think about how many yards of 45" I need for a full-length Kimono. (I should probably do that math again, just to be sure.) They have a color called 'palace purple', which is about what I need for her over layer. It is shorter at least... and less decorated. Of course for that I want something a little heavier. Like Crepe-back satin.... which is $40 a yard. >.>
I'm continuing to try to come up with options. Since her main layer is white, this site has an option or twelve. Still expensive, but not prohibitively so.
Anyway, true silk would likely require use of dyes like these, or some other liquifyable dye. I'm thinking I'll try to put a wax resist over the area that will have the main design, do the watercolory dyeing for the background, then do the designs proper in paint through a stencil. Simple, right?
Keep in mind that I'll be beading her hairpiece, styling her wig (I'm in /love/ with this wig, so that shouldn't be a problem), and making two other kimono layers and an obi besides this one that I'm talking about dying/painting. >.> I'm insane.

On the up side, I finally ordered thread today for Kagetoki's appliqué. Because using it for the back spoiled me and now I'm too easily frustrated by the fragility of the rayon. I sucked it up and got a Madeira color card with the order too, since that way I can match future appliqué projects and order thread for them too. Namely, I'm planning for Benkei at this point, but Atsumori may have similar requirements, as would Tomomasa, Haruka2!Akram and any potential character quilts or totes that I end up making someday.

Saturday we did a lot of other errands, including wig shopping. I have a Saku wig here now and a new Yuushi wig on order. *bounces* Also got Jess a new and exciting Niou wig, so Kagetoki will be her old white Allegra, dyed to color. In the wig trip we also obtained a model shotgun. It needs a bit of modification. (Note to self to look into a fiberglass patching kit and get wonderflex info for Rebecca in return (also, check on her so fabric.)

Bah. Sleep now. More freaking out later.
