You know what? I really wanted to respect Sarah Palin. I felt like I could respect her as a strong, capable person without agreeing with her stance on issues. It didn't mean she'd come close to getting my vote or anything like it, but I was willing to give her some respect for doing a hard job, and I come from the Midwestern bible belt. Not everyone is liberal.

But you know what? Fuck that shit. I will not respect someone who uses her daughter's choice to keep a baby as a campaign platform. I will not respect someone who plays the sexism card when the media is treating her exactly as it would treat any other completely unknown political candidate with a questionable past. I will not respect someone who claims that being mayor of an Alaskan town of eight thousand people in any way prepares her for governing the United States. And I really, really won't respect someone who thinks that vicious attacks are more pertinent in a political election than substantive policies. There is no integrity here.

And just for the record? Cesar Chavez and MLK were both community organizers.

(As an aside? This blog post also hits an entirely different nail on the head; it's worth reading. (Sorry for the faulty link originally - I hit "expand" instead of actually moving to the post.))
