It's an art to be optimistic for the right reasons and pessimistic for the right reasons (by "right" I mean "right" according to you, of course, and I guess I'll let "right" according to others slide in there as well).

I read somewhere that as science increases in complexity, its representation and portrayal will become more metaphoric and artistic. We already see this in visual modeling, the plethora of metaphors used to talk about the brain and the mind, etc, etc, etc,.

It's unfortunate the way we young people tend to look at our lives:
You're twenty-four and you haven't found "Mister" or "Misses Right" just yet, and you're all bent out of shape about it.
You're twenty-four and you're "getting old."

It's sad that there is a correlation between the two.
It's sad that I thought that way, too.
