This has been one of the most hellish weeks I've ever had the privelege to experience. I arrived the first night with Grace with our huge bags of clothes and shoes and other things that might be deemed superfluous. I was subsequently greeted by a big hug from Whitney and then everybody else standing in front of the classroom entrances where you sign up and chat with old friends. It was a really pleasant reunion with quite a few vets from last year. I was surprised to see Bonnie Swanton come again too for some reason or another.
The next day was where the fun really began ah....that being said for a sort of foreshadowing. I was placed in advanced class again with Will and Walker(horribly intimidating people to share a Japanese class with..). Tis a great thing and a horrible burden too because it's really difficult and we have a lot of homework. Our teacher started out being Kakizaki-Sensei again so I was dreading it at first but I really love having her now. She's a really talented and intelligent person with what seems to be endless patience and understanding. We're supposedly having a switch of teachers next week though...Ah..
I'm having most trouble with particles and verb conjugation really. I have all day today and tomorrow pretty much to study those, memorize my kanji, attempt to translate the kendo page, practice for stomp if I can find Anjali later, write my journal entry on my interview with Hikari and Mizuki and then write about my own dreams and aspirations(In Japanese mind you..).
Speaking of stomp though. That's what my homeroom(number 1 jazoo) is doing for the culture festival show. It's pretty fun but I can't read music as well as I'd like so getting the beats right as well as figuring out if they're for feet, thighs, hands, or fingers is a little difficult. I can't snap my fingers either which is vital for me to pull off what I'm supposed to do correctly. I guess I need to practice that too.
Highlights of my week have been being with various friends, learning much much much more, Friday's Garden Party(our team one first place oh yeeeah), eating the wonderful food that the Japanese students prepared for us, staying up late watching "Princess Bride" with Yurie and friends, and then staying up while Yurie showed pictures of her favorite singers and let us listen to some of her favorite songs.
The Japanese movies in America class was pretty interesting and so was the Japanese Politics. I'm still amazed but not surprised that a week has almost gone by already.
Oh, and I have to mention how horribly amusing it is that the Japanese guys are too afraid to speak to the American girls because they think that they can't speak English well enough. All of the girls seem to love Kempo...poor guy.
