Yesterday I mailed off my "Sniper's Log" book to the Brooklyn Art Library...! Man, I think we found this place originally through the Art Deadlines List. I've been sending things there on and off for years... But this one is guaranteed a spot in the show when it comes back around to L.A. and San Francisco, so I have something fun-ish to look forward to. (don't know exactly when)
small, cute fish I sketched from
a photo I really like from the Kagoshima Aquarium. (big shock, I like taking pictures of fish XD;) I was thinking I would I could draw them as something of a test before doing a little acrylic painting, but aside from some of the colors of the water and inside the big tank, I really didn't have a very accurate set of markers.
...will I wind up painting them later? Maybe. Ah, but it felt nice to get to show off now.
Only a picture resembling the right-most thumbnail ended up being included in my
2019 calendar.
The first (sort of top-ish) one is someone paddling a canoe into a snowy forest and the third (sort of low-est) was a girl sitting with wisteria, but they didn't make the cut. (facing away is Horatio with his ponytail kind of short)
And then there's
this vintage photo with a girl having just put on her lipstick and examining her face in a fairly large hand mirror. I would have really liked to make an illustration of Vivianne, Adagio, and the Ace of Hearts for the calendar......but I felt I was running out of time to finish, and this idea kept betraying me.
(will I return to it someday later? Maybe I might color in Vivianne (2 here) digitally at least)
