^_^ A week ago....

A week ago today, I gave birth to the most wonderful little baby boy ever.

He was 7 lbs 14.5 oz. and 19 7/8in. He was delivered by c-section since my induction for vaginal birth was unsuccessful. The medication used for the contractions was disagreeing with Dylan and was making his heartbeat plummet. So instead of risking harm to him, I had a c-section... And boy was I whacked out on a nice medicinal cocktail...For the contractions, I was on pertocine, and for some nausea I had Demerol and Promethazine. I was in La La Land after those two medicines. Next came the epidural...And I was gone, I mean really gone after that. Actually, I had two doses of that. The second one came after it had been determined that a c-section was necessary. I stayed that way for quite a while. Until about 5 or 7 pm that night. ^_^ But it was worth it when Dylan came in the room. Never had I been happier than when I married Shikarou 9 months earlier. Now we are a family. Not that we weren't before, it just seems more official now. Like the missing link in a chain, or rather like the clasp that holds a beautiful silver chain together. It needs no other adornment. Just a clasp to make the circle complete.

I will never be able to describe how I feel right now, a week later. All the crabbing I did the previous nine months does make holding your child for the first time worthwhile.

Also yesterday, I took my son to the Health Department ( I'm on WIC ) and got him a mini-checkup, and already evidence of him growing up fast is presented to me...Yesterday he measure in the circumference of his head is 36.5 in, was 20 1/8 in. long and weighed 8 lbs. and 1 oz. It made me a little sad that he's already growing before my eyes. In the span of one week he grew...* sighs * I'll be ok though. I'm just lucky I have this time with him now to hold and hug him before he grows up and doesn't need me as much any more.

^_^ Life is good...Life with children? Even better! :-)
