Day 2 'n Other Stuff
Okay! First off, I have some semi-good news. While I'm still in a bit of a dry spell, job hunting-wise, I managed to get two applications out, this week. I know that's not a lot, but it's more than I got out, for the rest of October.
And I've been keeping an eye on the city volunteer website, and two of the libraries now need shelvers. So, I signed up for those, too. Let's hope that I hear back from one of them. Heck, if both of them want me, that's also fine. However, I know all to well that I shouldn't get ahead of myself. All I can do, right now, is hope someone calls me.
Anyhow, let's move onto Day 2 of this meme!
Day 2 - Favorite anime you’ve watched so far:
That's a pretty tough question. I've watched a ton of anime, in the past 13 years, and I've enjoyed most of it...even some anime that usually gets written off as being no good. Well, after thinking about it, I think my pick for today's topic is going to be one of those.
If there's one series that I'm permanently chained to, it's definitely Megami Kouhosei. It never fails. Every time I try to tear myself away, I always get pulled back in. I keep trying to sever my ties with this show, but I can never do it. There's just too much sentimental value attached to it.
Yeah, I know all too well that I'll never get the conclusion that I've wished for. It's been 10 years, and with all the sadism and irresponsibility on the manga-ka's part, I've learned to just let it go. It royally sucks, because I honestly thought it had an interesting story and a lot of potential. And don't even get me started on my tragic first love affair. >:\ Then again, you could probably say the same about my relationship with this series, as a whole.
However, in spite of all the flaws, the unrecognized potential, and how badly I got hurt, I still can't seem to quit this one. True, nostalgia is a factor at play, because I highly cherish my memories of the time when it first aired here. But the truth is, even back then, I held it in pretty high regard. When most wrote it off as being no good, I found a lot of good in it. I will usually stick with a series to the end, as long as I'm entertained and having a good time. Case in point, this and TYTANIA~.
And I always have to rewatch it, at least once a year; mostly with xx_adverb_xx, whom I met through an MK-related forum, when we were still in high school. We'll joke and poke fun at it, but we do that because we love it so much.
Even if this series has caused me pain, and there are a lot more better anime out there, I will always remember MK as the series that I, as a fangirl, grew up with. Yeah, I realize how badly the situation reeks of Stockholm Syndrome, but no matter what, I loved and still love it today.
