30-Day Anime Meme!
Life's boring, right now, and I don't like how depressing most of my recent posts have been. So, I'm gonna try doing one of those 30-Day memes, to liven up the place. Let's see if I can keep this up, for the entirety of November!
Day 1: Very first anime:
The first anime I watched, that I knew was an anime, was good old Sailor Moon. It was the Spring Break of 7th grade, and I was bored. So, I flipped through the channels, to find something on TV. I came across an episode of Sailor Moon, and wondered if I should go ahead and watch it. Back then, I was young, sheltered, and super-naive. Yes, believe it or not, I once gave in to the stereotype that anime was either for adults or little kids.
Anyhow, I couldn't take the boredom, any longer. So, I gave it a shot. I didn't think it was too bad. A little cheesy, but it kept me entertained.
After that, I decided to watch a few more episodes, and I ended up getting hooked on it. Soon after, I began my descent into fandom. Some people thought I was going down a dark path, and I guess in a way, they were right. However, I also knew there were worse things I could get into. So, I went down the road of the otaku and never looked back.
Now, about 13 years later, I'm still a pretty big fan of Sailor Moon. We've been getting the reprinted manga at the library, and I've checked out every volume we own. I gotta say, I'm loving the manga a lot more, now. And I'm definitely looking forward to the new anime series, that's coming out next year. I'll probably be annoyed if it'll be yet another retread of the Dark Kingdom arc, but I'll take what I can get.
