Harry arrived home to find an unexpected visitor lying on the sofa in the front room.
They had never really been friends, the Boy Who Lived and the spoiled rich kid, but following the war Harry had extended an invitation to him to stay at Grimmauld Place.
Draco had lost his home to the Ministry, who had claimed it under the pretence that they needed to rid it of all that remained of dark magic, after generations of dark wizards living there. Their search of the manor had unveiled several nasty traps, so they felt it necessary to take possession of the property indefinitely. Harry wasn't sure why Draco had turned down his offer at the time, but eventually he had learned that the Slytherin had decided to escape his past by leaving the country for a time. So why was he here now?
Harry looked at the man, deep in sleep, a book on his chest. He chuckled as he observed that Draco's blue shirt matched the flowers of the upholstery. It was so typical that he would look completely put together, even when squatting at someone else's house, as though he had planned his wardrobe accordingly.
He resisted the urge to wake his guest. Not sure exactly why he chose to delay the inevitable, Harry stopped his shameless gawping, and went upstairs to have a hot shower.
As he got dressed, he couldn't help but hope that Draco was here for more than just a visit. After the war, there was no reason for people to keep milling about headquarters, and Harry had found himself quite suddenly alone, which he had been for some time now. It would be a refreshing change to have someone else to share this house with, if only for a short time. And he had to admit to himself that he had missed him. Not just the company in general, but Draco. Merlin knew why, but it seemed the man had managed to get under Harry's skin.
When Harry went back downstairs, he found Draco in the kitchen, hands wrapped around a hot cup of tea. Looking up as Harry entered the room, he asked, "So, Potter, is the offer still open?"
