Ever had a dream where you wake up, but you're still in the dream? (
False awakening.) Like Inception?
Ever experienced
lucid dreaming, where you're aware that you're dreaming and can to an extent control the dream?
Ever had them combine?
Yeah.
We're finally getting the basement fixed, and while it's scheduled it's taking forever to actually happen, since they have to dig a trench around the circumference of the house* and first the contractor was waiting for a new mini-excavator, then it just keeps raining. So we've been waiting about four weeks now for this to happen, with no actual date in sight. The other night I dreamed that the trench had been begun, but couldn't be finished nor work begun because of the rain. In the dream, I went to bed and then 'woke up' and checked the trench again. Went through the day, still in the dream, went to bed, woke up and checked the trench. I don't know how many iterations of that I went through before I realized I was dreaming. When I did, I went back to bed so I could wake up. Woke up, looked out the window to check the garden and...trench. Realize I'm still in the dream, go back to sleep to wake up again. And again. And again and againandagain...
When I finally woke up into reality I was half-sitting up and not sure if I was really awake or not. I got up right away and went around the house looking through all the windows to see if I could see the trench, just to make sure. I've never had so many false awakenings in one dream, it was incredibly unnerving. I'll still take it over sleep paralysis though.
*Yes, I tried to talk Steve into a moat. No, it didn't work. *sadface*
