Oregon Mom Won't Return "Bunny Suicides" book I wouldn't blame her for filling out the book protest form. She is as free to protest the book's existence as I am to protest her own actions. I wouldn't blame her for tightening her control over what her own son reads - she is his parent, and that is not only her right but her duty. I would prefer she teach him a better lesson.
But to outright STEAL the book? (Because that's what it is when you don't return something, Ms. Anderson.) To "PLAN TO BURN IT"? No. Make whatever decisions for your own child you must, but you can't decide for everyone else's. Without commenting on the content of the book, I will say that if she thinks her thirteen-year-old gullible enough to perform an act he saw in a cartoon book because she thinks he thought it was funny, she can't have very much faith or trust in her own ability as a parent.
I can't say I blame her for that.
Ms Anderson, I hope you've thought out that, depending on how fed up people get with your shenanigans, this could get very nasty for you. It may be rare, but I have heard of libraries sending people to collections over unpaid dues before. As well, you are committing, or planning to commit, a theft (and broadcasting it!) which is technically an arrestable offence. Is it worth the risk, Ms. Anderson, to force your beliefs on everyone else?

But to outright STEAL the book? (Because that's what it is when you don't return something, Ms. Anderson.) To "plan to burn it regardless of the outcome"? No. Make whatever decisions for your own child you must, but you can't decide for everyone else's. Without commenting on the content of the book, I will say that if she thinks her thirteen-year-old gullible enough to be severely affected by a book of dark-humour cartoons, she can't have very much faith or trust in her own ability as a parent.

Ms Anderson, I hope you've thought out that, depending on how fed up people get with your shenanigans, this could get very nasty for you. Ignoring the fact that unpaid fines can, in some places, get you sent to collections; ignoring the fact that you're committing a theft, however 'small', which is an act that only needs someone to want to press a charge to have you arrested (depending on the local laws and enforcement), your first and last name and place of residence are now openly available on the internet. You may well find your crusade not as popular or as supported as you had hoped.
Edit: Looks like I found some
pics from the book. Dark humour, certainly.
