Latest cake, prepared for
hoper:
I had my first major cake disaster on this one. It's two 13x9 cakes stuck together in the middle, half devil's food and half golden butter cake. The devil's food cake popped right out of the pan beautifully, but the butter cake stuck and tore into two pieces. Fortunately I was able to put it together so that you can't tell it, but there was a moment's panic there on my part.
I learned how to make chocolate icing for this one. The brown icing is all homemade chocolate buttercream. Everything else is homemade regular vanilla buttercream. The eyes are a black jelly belly that I cut in half, and the centers of the stars on the corners are yellow jelly bellies. Who knew that the jelly bellies my sister gave me would come in so handy?
I have another cake to do tomorrow. It's for one of the overnighters at work; she wants something police-related. She's supposed to be sending a picture home with Lisa tomorrow night, so I guess I'll go ahead and bake the cake and get it based so that I can finish decorating it Sunday. Fun wow.
Question: How much would you pay for one of these things I'm making? Seriously...be honest with me. I can take it! I can't do a poll, so tell me in the comments. Thanks--
