Well... the weekend didn't go so great for me. I got up & moving fairly earlier then normal for me on a Saturday so I could drive way out to my insurance to get a little problem taken care of. Despite having "office hours" on saturday listed... they were closed. The office isn't a small drive away or anything either... it's out on power freaking road on the other side of Mesa. I was not pleased.
I come home & prepare to take my neon to get it's oil changed. Neon makes very, very bad sounding engine breaking noises on start up. Needless to say I stop the car & give it a looksie to find a good amount of antifreeze & such flowing from underneath the car. The dumb water pump has busted for who knows what reason but I blame the insurance company for good measure. I have to get my dang car towed to Pep Boys so that they can look at it Monday.
I email the insurance company my problem & wait to see if they respond knowing that they will probably want me to drive down there at some point and there's just no way I'm doing that again.
Monday comes around. Email waiting from the insurance to please call them. So I do... and first conversation goes with them thinking the only solution is that I must register in Arizona. *shakes head* Finally they realize I don't need to register in Arizona just yet as I haven't been out of college a year yet. So they call me back with my original plan A. Just raise my insurance coverage to match NM minimums & let them know I'm covered. Crazy Allstate lady. But she was nice enough to print & fill out all the forms for me as well as to offer to drive here so I could sign them instead of me driving out there. Especially since I don't have a drivable vehicle right now. Now we are just waiting on my updated insurance declaration page to be mailed to me from Allstate HQ & then we'll copy & fax away.
Pep Boys calls to tell my that the water pump needs replaced (duh) and that it took out the timing belt. For anyone who understand what having a non interference engine means... you know just how bad it is. For everyone else... it's bad. Real bad as in the last time my timing belt broke not but 3 or so years ago I wound up getting the head of my engine rebuilt & my grandfather using money to fix the roof of his house & barn to pay for the repair bill that was in the 1000+ range. That's bad. Because my car was not actually moving at the time... maybe the timing belt didn't get a chance to break the engine.. but only time will tell. I tell them go ahead & replace the water pump & the belt. So of course they call me again later in the afternoon to ask if I want them to replace the belt. Yes... yes I do. They are suppose to call me again but I doubt they will before they close. Which means I get to ride the bus tomorrow. *sigh*
But in good news it rained a whole freaking lot today & I got to play in it. ^_^ That did make me very happy. But I still miss my car.
