Just got done watching Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. I think it would have made more sense if I was in any position to understand the drug culture & generation of the 60s & their disillusionment and/or self destruction in the following decades. But I think I can understand the disillusionment somewhat. A generation that thought they could take over the world with love & peace and everyone would be happy. It is kind of a pity that it didn't work. But the fall-out of the "too far" hedonism must of been from a really great height for the main characters of this movie. I rated the movie pretty good because it got me thinking. Thinking philosophically as a matter of fact. What kind of movement is my generation embracing and what kind of fall out will happen from that? I don't really feel my generation has embraced any kind of world changing movement. I guess that's a pity too. It would be nice, as Duke's character said, to know that at least you, at least, were alive & there at that moment of greatness when everybody was riding the high at the crest of the wave. Go up high enough on the hills of Hollywood & you can sometimes make out the high watermark the wave left before it receded. Those lines from the movie have left the biggest impression on me. Although it was also nice to hear the origins of "this is bat country" line.
I think that's enough public philosophy for me. Now for more self-centered & daily routine news.
The last Harry Potter book is out. I do not want to buy it but I really do want to read it. I only know of one person who was buying it which was Vale's Roomie, Brad. Now I need to devise a strategy of getting him to lend me said book. Unless someone else reading this has a copy & wants to lend it to me. In the meantime I'm hoping no discourteous jackass spoils the ending for me. I'm not like some that I want to know so bad that I'm going to skip ahead or check spoilers. I prefer to experience the whole story in order as it was meant to be experience taking each emotional & plot turn as it comes in it's full glory. So somebody lend me the book, quick! lol.
Also... I think my internship is going to be uh.... interesting in a whole new way. My intern boss seems easily shaken by things as making a schedule. Granted this is his first time managing people but if he doesn't learn to calm down... this might not be so fun anymore. *sigh*
Thanks to my dreams I've become aware of 2 things. 1) why can't my dreams ever be nice to me? & 2) Adam still has my towels. I still want those back. Since he won't come to me, I guess I'll have to send Amy over with a mission to get them sometime... which is hopefully soon.
OH and I'm so very happy to be off Penicillin! Nasty, nasty pills!
