Death & Taxes

Feb 23, 2006 09:51

Taxes are completed for the year and it looks like I'm getting a nice little chunk back. This news comes at a good time since I just found out that I won't be fully compensated for the car accident I was in (that wasn't my fault) because of "discrepencies" in the two stories (so, the other guy lied). Plus, I have no control and bought Gilmore Girls Season 5 and some post cards. I'm going to re-sell the Gilmore Girls but still. I'd get kicked out of The Compact in a second.

I can't believe my vacation is more than half over. I haven't studied for the sickening amount of psych work I have to make up, or finished any online work. I did get my laundry done though. To be fair, college students don't really get "vacations". When we're not in school we work. As soon as we're given time off it's expected we get a job and work through what is meant to be time to refresh and maybe take a breather from school. But no. I can't wait until I'm done school and vacations are really vacations.

More stuff for sale on Ebay...yes, I am selling my Dawson's Creek DVDs. That's just the way love goes.

The Friday Five
1. If you could go back and relive one moment or day from your life, without changing anything, what would you re-experience? Driving in a rainstorm and listening to Garth Brooks. For about 30 minutes there it felt like no one hated each other.

2. If you could witness a moment in history, again without changing anything, what would you want to see? Women's Suffrage. It would be so cool to be a part of something so important.

3. If you could talk to a younger version of yourself, what age would you visit and what message would you give? I'd visit my middle school years and tell myself to remember. To remember and to write it down. To experience what is happening so I can deal with it now and not have it become something much bigger later.

4. If you could choose one moment that would be guaranteed to happen in your future, what would it be and when would it happen? Comfort. I don't know what elements it's going to take to get me there, but I would love to me guaranteed a moment of total comfort. When? Soon.

5. Pretend you left a time capsule for yourself 5, 10, 15, 20 or more years ago. You just opened it. What three things from your past are you now holding and what age were you when you buried them? My pink afpghan, diaries, a letter from a friend. I'd be 15.

This will only be fun for people who've been watching Olympic Skating and who find Dick Button (heh) as funny as I do: The Dick Button Drinking Game

Heist haul 'could be near $90m - Apparently the whole thing played out a lot like a Harrison Ford movie. I sort of want to hang out with these guys. You know they're sitting in a room somewhere throwing money in the air so it rains down on them.

Teenage Girl Convicted in Ill. Killing - This is way more intense than it sounds.

A teenage girl was convicted Wednesday in the killing of a 16-year-old classmate who was choked, beaten and sawed into pieces after an argument over boys.

Sarah Kolb, 17, faces up to 60 years in prison.

The victim, Adrianne Reynolds, had just moved to East Moline from Texas about two months before she was killed. Prosecutors said she was just trying to fit in at a new school but picked the wrong friend.

Ya think?

Johnny Weir was a Jewish Polish girl in his past life. 'Nuff said.

Eight meat plant workers claim record $365 million Powerball prize. Clearly I didn't win as I don't work in a meatpacking plant in Nebraska, but I should have...

Gay Activist Buys 'Brokeback' Shirts for $100,000. I think this was a smart move, especially if the movie wins serious awards at the Oscars. Gregor, the man who purchased the shirts, says "They really are the ruby slippers of our time,". Gayest statement ever.

Hiddenpassageway.com a cool link for a company that installs hidden passages in houses. The good stuff is under the videos link. Takes awhile to load because it's flash. I totally want a bookcase one, though animation #4 is pretty awesome too.

While I was home doing laundry yesterday my brother mentioned that he had gotten an injury during a pillow-fight with a friend. After I made a quip about how cute that was, he explained to me that it was pretty intense stuff. Turns out this isn't a new concept, in fact there are pillow-fight events held all over the world. Here are some pictures from a San Francisco Pillow-Fight which looks more like a fun version rather than the more intense 'Fight Club' inspired fights.

So go.
