hallonpaj wanted a rubber duck (don’t ask xD)
”Cheater.”
”Am not.”
”Am too.”
Hurley began to laugh. ”Whatever dude.”
”Cheater.” Sawyer threw his stick down and walked over the carefully drawn Gomoku board in the sand.
“Sore loser.”
“Cheeeeeeeater.”
Hurley shook his head with a smile.
Sawyer was about to turn back to the game when Juliet brushed past him. Her steps seemed to run more then walk and she didn’t turn to apologize.
“Hey there Blondie, where’s the fire?”
“Juliet!”
Kate ran by him, she too without a word to ease his wounded pride. It wasn’t really his style to be run over by screaming women.
“It wasn’t what you think it was!”
Juliet whipped around and gave Kate a stare which caused the brunette to stop dead in her tracks.
“It never is with you.” Juliet laughed a hollow and empty laugh. “And it never will be again, right?”
“Of course not…”
Juliet left the beach before the words had escaped Kate’s mouth.
“She seemed mad.” Sawyer chuckled. “What did you do?”
Kate starred at him.
“Sorry I asked then.”
Kate sighed.
“She thought I did something, I didn’t.”
“And this something was pretty bad, I assume…”
Kate nodded.
“And blondie won’t let you explain?”
“I guess, I deserve it.”
“Probably.”
“You’re no help Sawyer.”
“You want help? Well why didn’t you just say so?” With a grin Sawyer placed his arm around Kate’s shoulders. “Just listen to my plan…”
“Plan?”
“You want help or not?”
Kate sighed once more.
“Fine.”
Kate heard branches cracking between the trees just as she placed the second blue airline blanket on the sun-warmed rock. Standing up, she put on her biggest smile as the blonde reached the clearing. Stopping, Juliet frowned, crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head.
“Just hear me out.”
“No.”
Kate took a step closer.
“Just five minutes of your time. That’s really all I ask for.”
Juliet’s eyes lowered to the ground, she seemed to hesitate before raising her head again - adding a slight nod.
“Sit, please.”
Kate sat down and waited until Juliet took a seat on the second blanket. Carefully, not to disturb the distance between them, Kate pulled out a small basket filled with fresh fruit and a wine bottle carrying the Dharma label.
“You plan on getting me drunk and having your way with me?”
Juliet raised an eyebrow and there was a hint of a smile on her lips.
“I didn’t need to get you drunk last night.”
Juliet traced an invisible pattern on the blanket. Slow careful movements which just as slowly drove Kate insane. The silence between them seemed heavier by the second and for a moment Kate, wondered if the world around her had stopped all together.
“Did Jack get you drunk?”
“What?”
Kate was stunned by the sudden break in silence.
“Is that your excuse? Did he get you drunk and seduce you?”
“He did not get me drunk and he did not seduce me. How many times do I have to tell you that? I’m not into him.” Carefully Kate rose to her knees and placed her hands on each side of Juliet’s legs. “You’re the only one I am into, I thought you knew that.”
Slowly Juliet raised her head.
“I woke up alone and saw you coming out of his tent.”
“So just because I was in his tent early in the morning, that means I took off my clothes and jumped him?”
Juliet smirked.
“Okay, bad example, but I don’t do that to other people.”
“Jack said you kissed him…”
“Well, Jack is a big fat liar.”
“Sure he is.”
Juliet rose. Brushing some sand off her knees, probably stuck on the fabric as Kate brought it from the beach. Tucking a few golden strands of hair that had escaped her ponytail, behind her ear, the tiny smile faded from her face before she looked down at Kate.
“I just don’t get it.”
“Which part?”
“The part where Jack lied. He’s an honest person, he wouldn’t lie to me.”
“Oh come on, he’s been trying to get into your pants from day one. He just thinks, if you hate me enough, you will let him in.”
“You know I wouldn’t do that.”
“Do I? I mean he tells you, I kissed him and you won’t even listen to me.” Now Kate stood up as well. “Have I ever done anything to make you trust him more than me?”
“No.”
“Exactly. Now will you sit down and enjoy my picnic?”
“I should go talk to Jack.”
Juliet turned towards the path, but this time Kate was faster. Grabbing the blonde’s arm she spun her around but Juliet pulled the other way. Somewhere in the struggle Kate lost her balance. As a last resort she clung to Juliet, pulling her with her into the lagoon.
The cold water made Kate’s chest tighten as she forced her head through the surface. Next to her Juliet stood up as well, coughing water.
“I’m sorry.”
Kate tried to keep from smiling as she looked at the drenched blonde giving her a very dark look in reply.
“I really did not mean to do that. I just didn’t want you to leave.”
“I bet you just wanted me to get wet.”
Juliet shook some of the water out of her hair. Kate smirked but as Juliet spotted it, she threw a cascade of water towards the brunette.
“Hey!” Kate brushed the water from her face with the back of her hand. “That’s not very nice.”
“Who said I was playing nice.”
Slowly Juliet moved forward, closing the distance between them. She linked her finger through the loop in Kate’s jeans, forcing their bodies to collide. Juliet’s other hand brushed away a strand of wet curly hair from Kate’s face before it slid down her arm, causing goose bumps, before landing on the small of the brunette’s back. Kate tilted her head with a smile.
“Does this mean, you’re not mad at me anymore?”
“Just shut up.”
Juliet pressed her lips roughly onto Kate’s. The brunette could feel of Juliet’s anger and frustration and if it wasn’t for the strong hold she was in, she would have stepped back. As it was, she let Juliet take the lead and with the passing seconds, the kiss became softer until Kate felt herself respond more and more, her body melting into Juliet’s. Her hands moved around, following the denim of Juliet’s jeans. She pulled the blonde’s body closer against her, slowly sliding her fingers under the wet tank top and caressed the soft skin of her girlfriend’s back. Juliet gasped and Kate used that moment to capture Juliet’s bottom lip, sucking it until the gasp turned into a moan.
Juliet spun her around and Kate’s back hit the rock they had been sitting on just minutes earlier. She pressed her leg between Kate’s and a wide grin spread over the blonde’s face as a similar moan escaped Kate’s throat.
“I knew you liked it when I play dirty.”
Kate licked her lips, taking a deep breath as Juliet pressed her leg against her.
“Yes. Yes I do like it. Definitely.”
“We should probably get out of the water.”
Kate nodded.
As Juliet leaned back, Kate jumped up on the rock behind her, slowly moving backwards until her fingers felt the blanket. Juliet followed, but instead of continuing what she’d started, she sat down by the basket.
“I thought, I didn’t have to get you drunk.”
Kate smirked.
“I was simply checking, if you brought towels or more blankets.”
Juliet rolled her eyes. Her serious face suddenly breaking into a giggle, she pulled up a small rubber toy from the basket.
“That was Sawyer’s idea.” Kate shook her head. “He thought you would find it cute and forgive me.”
“A duck?” Juliet’s giggle grew into a laugh. “Really?”
“Don’t even ask me where he got it.”
“It is kind of cute.” Juliet placed the small rubber duck into the water and watched it glide across the surface of the lagoon. “I once dated a girl who had a rabbit, but never one with a duck.”
Kate could feel her cheeks heat, but Juliet just kept on laughing.
“Hey, I find it cute. Really.”
Kate looked up at the blonde’s smiling face. It took her less than a second to have her pinned to the ground, hands above her head and lips against hers. She broke contact only to kiss her way up Juliet’s neck, all the way up to her ear. Her voice deepened as she whispered:
“I think I have to get you out of those wet clothes, before you catch a cold.”
She felt Juliet swallow hard.
“Well, if you think it’s for the best. I certainly don’t want to get sick…”
