This is getting to be both a necessary and a difficult task as the bus strike continues. Luckily my dad is off this week and next so, if push comes to shove, I can get to work next week. But it's a horrible hardship to him and I hate to do it. *sigh*
Okay, happy. So my sister had an exam today and since there were no buses, my dad and I drove her down. We took the car into the garage and then headed back downtown so that we could pick Dunkleman up when she finished writing 4 pages of bullshit on genetically modified potatoes or something.
In the interim we shopped together and actually enjoyed each other's company. My dad was in a Christmassy mood despite having to drive in shitty traffic and when my sister was finished we all decided to go for dinner. Sitting in the near-empty restaurant we discussed the slowness of business with no buses on the go. Our waiter's name was Simon and he had a voice that was all husk, no muss. I swooned over him while my sister ogled a boy with a jockish body but whose head was buried firmly in a book and his body ensconsed firmly in a cardigan. A lovely meal.
Driving home at 7, far past the traffic's end we were tired and hepped up at the same time. A bag full of sour candy, purchased on impulse, may have had something to do with it.
A good day to be sure. Nice to savour the last few days of unemployment.
