This is a drabble I wrote--and by drabble, I do indeed mean exactly 100 words, which, if you've never written a 100-word drabble, is a whole heck of a lot harder than it sounds--in this universe. It doesn't really have a pairing, though I guess it could be John/Atlantis or River/Atlantis or, if you stretch the mind a bit, John/River/Atlantis...but it was written pretty much as gen. It doesn't have a title yet, because I'm not so good with the titles, but
“Echoes of echoes of echoes…whispers. She was empty for so, so long, with nobody to hear her…she’s alive again.” River trails her fingers along the walls, entranced by the city.
“River…” Simon glances for a moment at the Colonel, who’s looking at his sister somewhat oddly. “I’m sorry, Colonel. River’s a bit…fragile.” He focuses his attention back to River. “River, we should probably go back to the ship now.”
“It’s okay,” Sheppard says, still watching River.
“She hears you, John,” River says quietly, not looking away from the walls. “You hear her, too.”
John says nothing--he knows she’s right.
(If I did something wrong, just tell me, and I can fix it. ^_^)
