Just once, I would love to go for a blood test and have the blood actually come out on the first try. After a few failed attempts in my arms the nurse finally got it out of my right hand, but OMG the pain! The tests are just to make sure my recent bout of exhaustion is due to the usual suspect (CFS) and that there's nothing else lurking there. I'll get the results later in the week.
I've also been having a reappearance of the ice-pick headaches, which has been really frustrating. The topamax had been doing a really good job of keeping them at bay up until a couple of months ago, then they slowly started to creep back in. At the minute it's more the frequency of them than the pain level, they're mostly staying around 3s and 4s on a scale of 1-10, so they're bearable at the minute, it's just that there's a lot of them. There's the odd 8 thrown in there, though. Just to keep me on my toes!
I spoke to the Doctor to see if there was any chance to increasing the topamax, but the dose I'm on now is the dose the neurologist prescribed, and he feels it may be a bad idea to increase it as it's raising the risk of more serious side effects (as it is, the side effects I have are bearable and not serious) He wants to see if we can decrease the headaches by improving my general health, so I've been prescribed a course of Melatonin. I've got to take this every night before bed for three weeks, so we'll see how that goes. I should get my blood results by Thursday or Friday.
Something to smile about though, my sisters and I have booked to go and see the Mighty Boosh again when they come to Belfast in January! I really can't wait to see it again, the Dublin show was so amazing, it's going to be so much fun to see the guys again! Even if it is the same show, lol.
