I saw two movies over the weekend. Both were enjoyable and dealt with death, but in different ways.
Stranger than Fiction: At first, I thought the combination of Will Ferrell and Emma Thomson wouldn't work, but it does. Very good movie with a nice blend of humor and sadness. I definitely recommend it, although it wouldn’t matter if it’s on the big screen or not.
The Fountain: Main star is Hugh Jackman. Wow - I will buy this film. Surprisingly powerful and emotional (to me), not easy to describe, but it’s one of those movies that you need to see the whole way thru (or multiple times) to understand the plot. I recommend seeing it on the big screen and bringing Kleenex tissues. Due to the emotional content, it may appear to be a chick flick (plus there's no sex), but since the story is seen thru the eyes of the male character, I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who has any ounce of desire for real love in their lives.
