I'm joining the army. I was going to spare my mother and only do the reserves till she got comfortable with the idea then go full time, but instead i'm going to follow her advice and go straight in. Well not exactly following her advice. She doesn't want me do to do it. She told me she didn't think a lab tec would be a good thing for me to do. She didn't want me to settle for something. What she keeps failing to realise even though i told her is that in the reserve unit up here there are very few options. So I decided that she did have a point and i should so something that i would find both useful and interesting to do. So I will be going full time active duty and I'm deciding between EOD (bomb squad/SWAT) or Chemical Operations Specialist (hazmat+CDC). I know the logical choice would be chemical because it is very close to things I would like to be doing....but EOD i'd get to blow shit up all the time. I'd get to do a little bit of blowing things up and flashfires for containment purposes in Chem....but not as much as EOD.
Decisions decision...I fly to anchorage on tuesday to have my physical and ASVAB done. I've already taken the fakey ASVAB so i've still got to do the real thing. Hopefully I'll score as well or better on it. I know a lot of people who scored in the 90's and thats where I'd like mine to be, pure pride thing there.
