The votes are counted, and The Sopranos are adding "Love Fool" (The Cardigans), "Come On Eileen" (Dexy's Midnight Runners), "Pinball Wizard" (The Who), and "Fire and Rain" (James Taylor) to their repertoire next semester. In addition, our back-up is Jack Johnson's "Flake," and we're retiring "Love Shack" and "Can't Hurry Love," I think? I forget if there are others. Possibly Portishead's "Life in Mono," I guess. Anyway, we're keeping last semester's newbies: "Across the Universe," "Sound of Silence," "Lady Marmalade," and "Bohemian Rhapsody," of course. Sounds like it might be a good semester, although I really wish we had more songs than two songs that were originally sung by women, but oh well--more solos for the basses!
Bizarre day yesterday. I woke up feeling not so great with a horrible backache from sleeping wrong, dragged myself through my morning classes, and ended up getting sick after lunch. I proceeded to drag myself back to the dorm, only to drop into bed for a three-hour nap plagued by feverishly strange dreams. I felt a bit better after taking some Motrin but couldn't eat much at dinner despite random waves of hunger. Unfortunately, I also couldn't make it out to rehearsal, which made me sad. Plus, I had a paper and just couldn't shake this strange feeling of sadness--though I don't think the two are directly connected. Possibly, though. I guess I'm a little stressed and homesick lately, especially because my dad's 50th birthday is today and I'm not there.
In other news, the fact that my professors this semester are forcing us to submit drafts of our papers to workshop is turning out to be a good thing. I have a Communications paper due tomorrow, and it was basically finished last week. Same goes for my artist interview for College Writing due Monday. Aside from the readings I keep ignoring, I'm pretty on top of things this semester so far. Sweet.
Lunch and Communications homework, before I start thinking too hard...
