Tudor-i-ness

Well, I tore the skirt apart and repleated it 3 times before I got it right but it is done now. There was less length there than I thought there was and there will be no train on it afterall. Luckily my hubby and I are a similar height and girthiness so I made him put on the farthingale and skirts so I could mark the hem . It looks like the lining problem has been rectified so I will be leaving it in. I still need to order linen and corset bones but that isn't an emergency. I still have to work on the false sleeve and the linen and velvet partlets. I am going to work on hand hemming those skirts over the next few days. I am much happier with the overskirt now. After going back and looking at more period portraits it looks more accurate. Sleeker and less pleated. Especially for those silly Tudors.

Now I need to attach the hooks and eyes to the bodice and overskirt edge. When I do the next one it will be the front closing with the placket and pins. I'll make sure to get those period looking brass pins that I have seen for it.

On to other project ideas I get my fabric allowance in February (yes, I am a crazy anal person) this means that I need to know what projects the fabrics will be intended for before making fabric decisions. My current inclinations are:
German Cranach gown (this would depend on being able to find the right brocade or damask)

Venetian(because I am a good lemming after all, and I do have that planned Turkish coat that I still intend to make and have all the stuff for. Having a gown to wear it over would be spiff. Much like the one that Oonagh has done http://oonagh.actewagl.net.au/ Making what is essentially a glorified dressing gown for use in a hotel room at events just seems a bit silly. But then I am nothing if not silly.

Tudor overgown but this one done "properly" Something to go with the new forepart and sleeves.

A Spanish with the big huge "split bell" sleeve or whatever you call it. I love the way those things drape.

If I do a spanish that would require a doublet bodice and I really want one of those. There is a spiffy silk charmeuse that I would love for this but there is no gaurantee it will still be there in February. Maybe I will purchase a few yards of it if it is still there in a few weeks. Then I could make a variety of styles of overgowns to wear with the doublet and new forepart. It's an idea anyway.

Well, off to price some fabric and corset bones.
