Dirty Rotten Scandals (Season 6 Episode 3)
Domestic Serena. Huh. Doesn't get much stranger than that. And semi-step-mom Serena. That's just... wrong.
"Please leave Nate out of this."
Wow, how awkward is this? Nate and Serena used to date. Now Serena's dating the father, and Nate is dating the daughter. The relationships in this show. Somehow this feels even worse than Nate dating Chuck's fake mom, Diana.
"Speaking as someone with a lot of step parent types waltzing in and out of my life, I know it can be tough, but we'll make it through it."
Riiiight. And Serena turned out so well, didn't she?
"I know how to relate to girls like Sage because I was a girl like Sage not too long ago."
Like... a year ago right? Actually, not even. She really hasn't moved from being a girl like Sage.
I shudder every time Ivy and Rufus start flirting. Seriously. I can't stand it. Makes me want to hurl.
"Even on this corner?"
"I can't walk in my own show."
"Not you. Serena."
Jean-Pierre says "not you" like Blair walking in the show is the craziest idea he's ever heard. That's horrible! Even six years into the show, Blair is still being overshadowed by Serena. She's still the less sparkly one even though the clothes Serena would be modeling are hers. I see nothing's changed since season one.
"We have earned the right to hate each other from time to time, but that doesn't mean that there's not still love underneath."
"How many times have I saved you? It's your turn to save me back."
The way Blair's voice catches here was really nice. Blair never hesitates to call in favors, but she sounds reluctant to call in this one from Serena. Blair is a lot of horrible things, but she is also a loyal friend. She will never ignore a friend in need. Not even if she's not currently on speaking terms with them. Serena, on the other hand, treats her friends like trash. Blair doesn't think she should need to ask her best friend to save her. But Serena's only response is,
"I'm saving someone else now. Steven's daughter, Sage. My only focus is her and keeping her on track. They're my new family, maybe you should find a new one too."
This is why Serena is the worst friend ever. She's known Sage a week at most. She's known Blair all her life. Yet she chooses her current "fling" over her best friend.
"It is what Chuck paid my dowry to save. If I'm not successful at this, we might not even end up together!"
So, the purpose of Blair's entire career is to please Chuck. I see.
"We all root for you to be Blair Waldorf Bass."
So Blair has to give up herself to be a Bass. Yet Chuck doesn't have to give up anything. What about rooting for Blair to be her own person? To be Blair Waldorf. A powerful woman. The woman Blair has always wanted to be.
"I can't let her down! I can't let Chuck down! I can't let myself down!"
Blair thinking of letting Eleanor down first is nothing new. She's been trying to please her mother all her life. But now pleasing Chuck is a higher priority of hers than pleasing herself. What is wrong with you, Blair?
"I would love to spend the day with you under the duvet, but you're exhausted."
You realize you can do things "under the duvet," as you put it, that don't involve physical exertion, right? Does Chuck and Blair's relationship involve anything other than sex?
Whoa, whoa, Nate and Sage are having sex? Nate. Sweetie. That's called statutory rape. Consent doesn't matter if one of the participants is underage.
Did anyone like Blair's line...? Cuz I didn't really...
"We were. And then something better came along."
"Come on, Nate. You know you and all your other friends would've done the exact same thing in my position."
I can't believe Dan just screwed Nate over. Nate would not have betrayed Dan! Everyone else, sure. But not Nate. Nate was the only one who had never sent a single tip to Gossip Girl. It physically hurts to know that Dan doesn't think Nate is any better than the other people on the Upper East Side.
Dan and Nelly??? OMG! This should totally happen! But... but... Dan blew her off. No! He had no right to treat Nelly that way.
"I'm all yours. Mind, body, and scheme."
How romantic. Although the cuddling at the end was kind of sweet.
