Haha. Weird. I know all the people and places. I mean, it takes me about an hour by bike to go to Lake Starnberg. Unlike most Bavarians, I´ve never been that interested in Ludwig, but because of your influence (I guess), I watched my first König Ludwig documentation on telly a few weeks ago. Kind of pathetic, isn´t it? Anyway, beautiful story! And I don´t want to be a smartass, but it´s "Der Traumkönig". "Die" is the female article.
thanks for pointing out the error, I'll amend it, my german ist kaput!
I fell in love with the manga and him by default and the more i learn the more I fall.
I'm glad you liked the story. I want to go to Bavaria, I want to see Neuschwanstein and Herenchiemsee and the munich opera house and all the places he built. So, do you think he drowned, was murdered, was shot? I love that when they talk about his death you get words like supposition and the general consensus...
there is a really good page actually, but it's in german http://www.koenig-ludwig.org/ it has pictures and you can see, that apart from his ears, he was very pretty, as was Hornig who in reality was so seme, and he grew up to look like Orson Welles.
I was checking out the manga link, but I somehow can´t find it. *stupid me*
And how nice, Hornig looks like a cute, cuddly teddybear in the link you gave me. Pardon my ignorance. I can imagine them being a couple. Yep, I really can. You absolutely have to come visit Munich. I mean, I´m biased, but I think it´s one of the most beautiful cities on this planet (and again I fail miserably as a Bavarian, because I, too, have yet to see Neuschwanstein. Duh.)
And how Ludwig might have died... hm... I think, you know more about the "sinister" circumstances of his dead than me, but the thing I keep hearing (and find likely) is that he was suffering from some kind of mental disorder. He was supposed to be a good swimmer, so I don´t believe in the drowning theory, except he did it on purpose. And I think he did. I´d find it a dramatically enough ending for a man like Ludwig. But that´s just me. I love tragic characters... Well, who knows. As you said, it´s all about supposition and stuff. What do you think?
they were definitely a couple, most biographies skirt around it but they signed their diary together and although ludwig called Wagner my beloved friend he called Hornig the owner of his heart. Hornig was a dude though, he kept refusing all the gifts that Ludwig offered him
