The King by David Feintuch

Holy shit, I haven't cried like that for awhile.

As soon as I finished reading the book I went to bed and cried for like half an hour. While I hated Roddy in The Still (arrogant, cruel, abusive, a whole lotta other things) there were moments . . . . flashes of the King he could be. The only who saw this was his childhood friend Rustin, who doesn't remain just a "friend" for very long.

Anyway, in The King Roddy's become this King (it's almsot a phase, when the need for Roddy to be like this over, he reverts back to his usual self) that Rustin always saw in him, but along the way he looses Rust. OMG, it was so hard, loosing this one person who knew, who knew what he could really be and wasn't afraid of putting him in his place.

And along the way he looses so, so many friends all the while becoming something that Rustin knew he could always be.

But the ending . . . . *sob* IT'S NOT FAIR! After all that Roddy has gone thru . . . . to lose Elryc, his last brother and Anavar . . . . and Tursel and Uncle Raeth, Frostrow . . . ahhh . . . . it's not fair at all. Roddy, you deserve so much better.

Really, Mr. Feintuch you left us far too soon. You have written two marvelous books that I've read and I have every intention of reading the series you became famous for. Thank you for them.
