CHARACTER
NAME: Utau Hoshina
FANDOM: Shugo Chara!
AGE: Fourteen
GENDER: Female

POKÉ-PROFESSION: Trainer (Career itself is singer)
HOME TOWN: Sandgem Town Veilstone City
CURRENT TOWN: Hearthome City

APPEARANCE: Utau has large, purplish eyes and blonde hair that trails down to her middle-back, which she usually has up in twin-tails or some variation, or tucks it all up under a hat, depending on the occasion. As she is an idol-of-sorts and a former member of Team Galatic she isn't unused to wearing disguises of sorts, and thus likes to wear glasses that hide her face, or large hats. Her clothing tends to be less lenient towards wearing dresses and more so towards jeans, and she'll wear just about any colour as long as it coordinates with her attire. Black and white ensembles still remain her favourite colours, though.

PERSONALITY: There is one word to describe Utau's personality - stubborn. Fixatedly stubborn. Once she sets her heart and mind on something, she has a tough time letting it go, and even if she's wrong, it takes a lot to break through her stubborn exterior to her core. She is extremely overprotective of what she holds dear, and even if she doesn't voice this with words, her actions always clearly portray it, as that's when she shines. Due to her upbringing and having to hide what she was doing from other kids her age, Utau rubs off as antisocial to most people. She doesn't talk much beyond necessity, and befriending her is a difficult task. Though if she's treated properly, she'll eventually come round - stubbornly, of course. Even if she is befriended and asked for assistance, she's more than likely to decline... before turning up anyway and then claiming it wasn't any reason than that she was in the area, of course.

Utau has the capacity to remain level headed and calm in most situations, unless she feels particularly negative towards a situation, or is left without weapons, be it words or even a defense. This is particularly useful for singing, but is also a reason why she rarely frets in a battle situation. She also enjoys competitions.

There is one chink in her stubborn outlook, and that is her brother, Ikuto. She has a borderline-obsessive complex of her brother to the point where she claims she's in love with him, and long periods of his absence lead to her growing depressed, sad, freaking out at just his name and just about willing to do anything to see him. In short her personality tends to do a 180 turn around to the other extremity. She can still remain focused if it is called for, though. Her main goal in life has always been to set him free since she was drafted into Team Galatic, but now she's quit with the promise of living for herself, she's juggling putting herself first and worrying for her brother. Likewise, even if she doesn't show it, she does truly care about her pokémon and will always try to give them the best she has to offer.

She loves to sing, and this is when she truly becomes herself and shows her more kindhearted attitude. Her songs tend to hold more meaning for herself when they're filled with positive energy, which Eru, her Ralts, also thrives off.

ABILITIES: Utau is a natural-born singer - perhaps taken from her father's side - and there is nothing she loves to do more than to sing what she wants to sing with no restrictions. Her gentle songs have had the clarity to calm a loud room of people to listen to her, and her upbeat ones can turn a silent room into an all out rave. Her underlying compassion and unspoken love for her pokémon keep them loyal to her through thick and thin, usually, and they keep at her side at all times. Though not essentially an ability, her stubbornness makes it near impossible for her to back down on just about anything, making her appear cold to some, though deep down she really is just a kindhearted-yet-stubborn girl.

HISTORY: Utau was born, and lived, in Sandgem Town until she was four, still holding the family name of Tsukiyomi. She lived with her mother, her father, and her older brother, Ikuto. Her mother was from a rich family and was expected to marry a man of high etiquette, which Utau's father wasn't - he was but a simple man who had tried his hand at training but had soon found his love in violin playing instead. Despite the protests of her mother's family, they had married regardless, had moved to Sandgem away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and settled down quite happily there. There was one condition to the marriage though, that didn't cause the entire Hoshina family to come storming down on the four Tsukiyomi's - that when the head of their family die and thus leave the business without a head, Aruto come to take his place. Time passed, Utau turned three, and-- Aruto didn't. He packed up overnight, and disappeared, perhaps not even to anywhere in Sinnoh, but perhaps beyond.

As still a small child, Utau has little memories of the occasion, but she does know it broke her mother's heart. The three of them held out for a year, until one day a package came to their door - a violin, belonging to Aruto. Utau's mother couldn't take it anymore, and thus deferred back to the family home and the family business that she was expected to take over. One man had risen up the ranks and was the acting Director of the company, and had been slowly using it for his own ends beyond it's original production, getting in closer to Team Galatic that would have felt more comfortable, but it went unnoticed. Utau's mother remarried to him, and Utau was suddenly lumbered with a stepfather. Part of the conditions was that, as soon as the children were deemed old enough and useful, they would spend their lives fixing the damage Aruto had caused. She wasn't permitted to see her mother anymore, and the last time she spoke with her was when Utau received her two first pokémon, Iru, a Poochyena, and Eru, a Ralts, specifically from her mother to play with whilst she grew up with an old friend of Aruto's in Veilstone City.

After that, her childhood was mostly uneventful. Utau showed a particular spark for singing, and from the age of eight was often drawn in to sing at the Department Store during promotional days and, as advertisements became more prominent, occasionally feature in those as well. Around the same time, her brother than disappeared off to venture the world, presumably to quest as a trainer, though that she has never discussed with him and probably never will. At eleven, her foreseeable career as a singer seemed to take off and she was featured a lot more in the Department Store and other such places, almost becoming an icon to Veilstone and it's potential as a touristic spot. Utau also chose to try her hand at training at the time, the ever loyal Iru and Eru being her pokémon of choice. Iru thrived, and won battle after battle against pokémon in the wild and at occasional battles Utau had with passersbys that challenged her - Eru, however, always quickly fainted and had to be replaced by the ever reliable Iru, so Eru was gradually ignored and focus was poured entirely into Iru's training.

Her talents as a trainer due to her cool-headed-ness, inherited from singing in front of large audiences, did not go unnoticed. Her step-father who had mostly ignored her existence before, saw her usefulness as being part of his company - a branch of Team Galatic, that was operating under a different name as to avoid attention being drawn to it. Utau was soon drafted in, and to her surprise, so was her older brother, Ikuto. Set to refuse, utau decided to concede so she could save Ikuto, as he would be the one with the most pressure put on his shoulders for Aruto's wrong doings. Thus, Utau was forcibly made a member of Team Galatic, her name changing to Hoshina, and her singing career was largely put on the sidelines, except when to attract unknowing people to a certain area where grunts would be ready to take action. Whilst in her first few months of working undercover with Team Galatic, Utau was told to find a stronger pokémon as Iru wasn't competent to get what they wanted. Utau was again, left with no choice but to oblige and this was how she met her Vulpix, Dia. Dia became a part of Utau's team, and the Director approved of its abilities, leaving Utau free to continue her duties in Team Galatic.

Over time, her opinion of the Team darkened. Utau began to hate her work and herself for what she was doing, by hurting people and other innocent bystanders. She only wanted to train and perform, and sing, to save Ikuto, not to hurt others. This grew to a head when her frustrations rubbed off on Iru, who one day snapped at Eru causing her to flee from Utau's care when she wasn't paying attention. Blinded by the fact she had to try harder and be successful, Utau didn't follow her. Dia's performance began to slow, and even when called out Iru couldn't fill in the cracks. Around this time, an infiltrator, presumably a trainer, had taken to knocking down this section of Team Galatic before going for the big shots. Utau was sent to ward off this trainer from getting higher in their plans. Unwillingly, Utau battled with them, and was surprising to find Eru attempting to stop her from what she was doing. Even Dia stopped listening to her commands, turning an ear towards her. Eventually, left pokémonless, the trainer seemed to see her unwillingness to go through with this and showed her that this path was wrong, and that she should get out - after all, if she failed, it would be a perfect opportunity for her to quit as she would be a failure in Team Galatic's eyes, and they wouldn't come hounding after her. The trainer soon left to carry on their infiltration, and Utau was left for a decision. She decided, eventually, she would get out.

That night she spoke with her brother and voiced her concerns over him staying behind and taking the brunt of what she'd done wrong - but he insisted she leave and get out, and that he'd be fine. Taking his words, Utau sealed her decision with quiting Team Galatic then and there, immediately contacting her manager and relocating to Hearthome City.

She has since spent two months in Hearthome City, and occasionally appears at Contests to sing, or other such venues to perform. Team Galatic occasionally like to throw up some barriers for her to get around, but she is most successful in her original career choice. She does still train with her pokémon, and is slowly levelling Eru up after seeing her true power and abilities. Despite leaving Team Galatic once and for all, Utau is still sincere on saving her brother from the outside.

If you are concidering applying for Ikuto for this rp, feel free to contact me; I've attempted to be vague here to let any would be player decide what to do to him, but if you want clarfication for any of Utau's antics for yours, it's fine to ask away.
