Chapter 3: Him & Her
I got inside the room and I saw Peach-chan and Mikado-chan talking.
“Yuriko-chan!” Peach-chan shouted. “Where were you? We’ve been trying to call you. But you were out of reach.”
“We waited for you in the hall, but you never showed up.” Mikado-chan looked a little bit upset.
“S-Sorry~…” I scratched my head. “On my way there, I got stuck in the elevator.” I explained.
“EEEEEH?!!!!” Peach-chan jumped from the bed.
“You were stuck there all this time?” Mikado-chan widened her eyes.
“No… it’s just that… I fainted when we got inside…”
“EEEEEHHHH?!” They both exclaimed.
“Uhm, I was with Yamada-san in the elevator…”
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHH?!!!” This time, they both screamed in astonishment.
“So did anything happen?” Mikado-chan nudged me with a smug.
“Did you guys kissed or something?” Peach-chan giggled.
“N-No!!” I blushed like mad and sheepishly covered my face with a pillow.
“Oh, come on~…” Mikado-chan insisted.
“Well…” I started.
“So something did happen, after all~!” Peach-chan commented excitedly.
“I-It’s not what you think! Anyway, he talked about last night.”
“Last night? What did he say? Like he found out that you were with Ryutaro-kun and he said, ‘Hey! Stop hanging out with Ryutaro! I won’t let him have you!’?” Mikado-chan burst out into laughter.
“N-No! That’s impossible!” I exclaimed. “About the confession…” They stopped laughing and suddenly became quiet.
“What did he say?” Peach-chan waited for me to continue like a little girl waiting for her candy.
“Well… he didn’t exactly give me an answer…”
“He said that he finds me cute…” I sheepishly said in a low voice. I was turning read again and imagining him inside the elevator.
“KYAAAAAAH~!” They started screaming again like fan girls. “That’s just the beginning, Yuriko-chan!” Mikado-chan excitedly said and grabbed my shoulders.
“I-It’s not like he said he likes me back or anything!” I contradicted.
“Yeah! But It’s Yamada Ryosuke we’re talking about! You’re one of the luckiest girls on planet if he says you’re cute!” Peach-chan defended.
“Uhm… but… I don’t know.” I shrugged. “I talked to Ryutaro-san last night, right?”
“Yeah?” Peach-chan and Mikado-chan nodded.
“WAIT. DON’T TELL ME…” Mikado-chan widened her eyes.
“You like him now?”
“EEEEEEEEEHHH?!” Peach-chan was shocked.
I couldn’t lie. I sheepishly nodded.
Ryosuke’s POV
“Oi~!” Yuto called out to me as I and Chinen walked towards the beach. There were some people from class, waiting for Yuto.
“We were looking all over for you.” Yuto came towards us when we were near them.
“Uuuuh….” I looked away.
“Yama-chan got stuck in an elevator.” Chinen casually said.
“WHAT?! You got stuck in an elevator?!” Yuto widened his eyes and turned to me.
“Yeah, and it was terrible.” I scowled.
“What happened? Were you alone?”
“She was with Yuriko-chan.” Chinen smirked.
“Hey, why did you just smirk?” I turned to Chinen. He replied with a giggle. He then turned to Yuto.
“Yuto, Yama-chan was trying to do something to Yuriko-chan~”
“Eh? What?” Yuto was puzzled.
“SHUT UP, CHINEN! Yuto, forget what he said.”
Chinen smiled at me again.
“I’m starving. I missed breakfast because of that elevator.” I turned to walk myself to the food stalls.
“Where are you going?” I heard Yuto asking.
“I’ll just get something to eat. I’ll follow you guys after.”
“Alright,”
I settled for Yakisoba. I didn’t complain because it was good. Then I saw Yuriko-chan and her friends walking towards the drink stall next to where I was eating.
“Hey,” I called out to her so she would see me.
“Hm?” She turned her head towards my direction. Then I saw her talking to her friends. She walked towards me, so I stood up from my chair.
“Ah, Yamada-san…” Yuriko-chan glanced at me.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah,” she smiled softly. She was so cute.
“That’s great.” I smiled back. I had to keep myself calm. “You fainted inside the elevator…”
“Yeah, it was really hot and I was suffocating. Hm? The elevator! What happened?”
“It started working after you fainted. When I got to the ground floor, Ryutaro and Chinen saw us and helped me get you up.”
“Oh! I’m sorry! I caused you so much trouble!” She panicked.
“No, it’s fine.” I smiled at her. “Your friends might be waiting for you.” I pointed to where her friends were.
“You’re right… Thank you so much for earlier!” She slightly bowed her head and went away.
She isn’t the girl I really noticed before. Was it because she was really shy and hardly socialized with anyone? I didn’t expect someone like her to confess to me. Nevertheless, she’s cute and really nice.
And did you just see how she turned? How her brown hair blew and her eyes sparkled, I think it pulled the strings of my heart.
Am I falling for her?
While I was battling with myself inside, I realized someone was next to me. I saw Ryutaro biting from my yakisoba.
“Oi!” I grabbed the chopsticks from him. “If you want your own, go buy some for yourself!”
Ryutaro’s POV
I got so tired running from Yama-chan and gave his good back. We were both panting and we sat on the warm, white sand.
“Whew… I’m worn out from all the running.” I tried to catch my breath.
“That’s your fault for taking my food.” Yama-chan scolded as he took a bite from his yakisoba.
“Bleh~! You were the one caught off-guard!”
Then I saw Yama-chan widen his eyes a bit and shouted, “RYUTARO! WATCH OUT!”
I felt something hitting my head.
“Ow!” A ball rolled on my side and I saw a few people surrounding me.
“Ryutaro-san! I’m so sorry!” I heard a girl panicking and ran towards me. I turned to face the girl and it was Yuriko-chan. “I’m really sorry! I was the one who hit you with the ball…” She bent down next to me to check my head. “Let me check your head! I might have wounded you!” She touched my head to find the spot she hit with the ball.
“I… I’ll be fine…”
“No! You might be wounded! The ball was really hard!”
“I’m fine, really…” I touched my head and felt a small lump. I turned to look at her and she had a worried look on her face. Then I realized her face was about 3 inches far from her face. Her eyes looked back at me. Even with her anxious face, her eyes sparkled and it was beautiful. I felt my heart skip a beat. I was starting to forget that I was wounded until Yama-chan snapped me out.
“Ryutaro!” I turned to Yama-chan and he had a confused look with a little annoyance on his face. “How long do you plan to stare at her? Get your head treated!”
“Oh, right…” I turned back to Yuriko-chan. “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.” I smiled at Yuriko-chan. She still had a worried look.
“I’m really sorry…”
“It’s totally cool. Don’t worry about it.” I smiled and assured her.
I decided to drop by Yuto and Chinen in their room since I haven’t spent much time with them yet since the trip.
“Oi~!” Yuto greeted me as soon as I opened the door.
“Ah, Ryu-chan.” Chinen smiled.
“Hey, guys,”
“Where were you? We were looking for you.” Yuto asked as I took a seat on one of the beds.
“I was at the beach with some friends. Then I saw Yama-chan, so I was with him before I came here.”
“Speaking of which, where’s Yama-chan?” Chinen said, noticing the absence of Yama-chan.
“He said he’d just go around first. He should follow in awhile.” I lied down on the bed and I felt the pain on the lump on my head. “Ow!”
“What’s wrong?” Yuto asked me.
“I hit my head.” I held the lump.
“Eeeeh? With what?”
“A volleyball.”
“Oooh~… that must have hurt. You need an ice bag for that.”
“We should have one here.” Chinen stood up and went off.
“Say, Yuto,” I started.
“What is it?”
“Do you think Yama-chan likes anyone?”
“Eh? I don’t really notice it. And he doesn’t talk about it. Why ask?” Yuto shrugged.
“Ooooh~… nothing really, I’m just asking.”
“O… kay?”
Chinen came back from the bathroom. “There you go.” Chinen handed me the ice bag.
“Thanks.”

Ryosuke’s POV
