Whilst I sit here, not writing my Binetti paper and waiting for Toby to get his sorry ass online, let me weave you a little tale. Or, recount to you one of the most random things that has ever happened to me. Get yourself a hot drink. Y won't be here for a while and i'm bound to ramble.
So. Today I went into Florence to work on my ETC final project - ha! I ran into Leah while i was there. that was the end of that. we wandered, I spent money (damnit!!), and we finally decided it was time to go back. We start walking to the bus stop (but I showed her the Mercedes-Benz store first, because i think it's funny, and how many of those can there be in the world?). Suddenly these two asian girls come up to us and start asking us - in not-so-good-english - if we had a minute. I thought they wanted us to fill out a survey or something. no.
They wanted us to go into Louis Vuitton and buy them two bags. Apparently old Louis doesnt allow more than one of these bags per person. At first i was kind of weirded out, so i said no and we walked away. I said something to Leah how that might have been fun - plus i felt bad for these girls, they were probably going to go ask some asshole for help and he'd walk off with their money.. and Leah said she had no problem, it might be fun, and we werent running on any kind of schedule.. so we went back over to the girls and said sure, we'd do it.
They were excited, and started whipping out the cash. (serious, I'd never seen a 500,000 lire bill before - they're pretty and blue and they have Rafaello [sp?] on them.) They also whipped out the bag they wanted - i guess they'd bought two for themselves and wanted two more for friends (?). Whatever the reason, they wanted two more of these bags, and needed us to buy them.
Utena is online! must hurry. i'm sure you all dont mind.
So they give us the cash - wads - show us the bag they want, and walk us over to the store. i asked the girl who was talking to us - the other apparently didnt speak english - and she said they were Japanese. So Leah and I go into Louis. Pretty intimidating.. at first. and Leah looked fine, but of course i'm in my garbage American-wear (serious, thats a term) - Columbia jacket, blue, blue Saucony tennis shoes.. but i'm buying a bag for two hundred and fifty bucks, damnit, i dont give a rats ass what i'm wearing. the store was actually really small, but there was a guy with like, hors d'ouevres in the back of the store, and champagne. I actually really was intimidated.. so i didnt take anything. we go over to the counter, guy FINALLY waits on us, we pick the purses out.. pay him... all in all it took like, half an hour. come on, buddy! we just blew 500$ in your stupid store! apparently they dont care. And all the rest of their customers were Asian.. is LV pretty popular in over there, or is it that only the rich people take trips to Italy?
Well, so anyway, we get the bags, leave, and give them to the girls.
Random event of the day. But i have to go!! EVERYONE GETS ONLINE, JUST WHEN I THINK I HAVE A MINUTE OF PEACE! (i love you all)
But now i can say i've purchased something at Louis Vuitton.
