The key to a peaceful world is that there can be no such thing as long as the human community is fully encompassed by the Earth's atmosphere alone.
Let me explain. All communities need different groups with views that are at odds. They need people with different goals (this is what creates economies in part...or at least lends more vibrancy than simple need meeting) and ambitions. They need places for criminals and crime. They need places for the violent and the slothful. They need room.
But within the community there can be peaceful pockets (as there are deep pools in a streaming river that are slower and more orderly than rapids which may be on both sides). Therefore peace can only exist on a subset of the world at any one time. At least until people live on multiple planets. Then there will be peaceful planets, but never a galaxy/universe/solar system wide peace.
Because peace never exists on a large scale. Because good never works well in large scale for long periods of time (it takes energy) while evil always works well at large scales and long periods (all it requires is apathy).
Um yea...thats all.
Look there! Their house is on fire because their cat knocked over the lamp they're going to find in the smoldering ashes.
