She was a fool for loving him, of that she was certain.
Loving him had cost her, changed her, chained her.
Her home, floating above the river, on the roots of the trees that formed the roof of their cathedral, was her prison, and the brackish water, her only connection with that which she loved more then him, the sea.
And yet, she found, as she inhaled the sweet smoke of the smudging herbs, that she loved him still, and that he still had hold of her heart.
