Sewing Pattern Dilemmas

Apr 14, 2008 18:05

I am intending to make myself a cloak out of some beautiful orange-red shot two-tone taffeta. I have had a lovely pattern knocking around for ages which I have never actually used (not to completion anyway) and I have found the fabric I am looking for online but I cannot seem to currently locate the bloody pattern. I know it is in my sewing room somewhere but i need it now to know how much fabric to order. I can't even seem to find it online anymore so I assume it has been discontinued which isn't that surprising since I think I have had it for years. Google-fu is failing me today so I turn to you guys.

Any idea what pattern I might be talking about? Its a hooded cloak and it had a picture of a woman with blonde-brown tied up hair on the packet and the cloak made out of dark red velvet. It may have been a Simplicity pattern, I will know the pattern cover when I see it but I can't currently recall what make it was. It's a lovely pattern with many pieces and a lot of fabric.
I know, I'm being a bit vague. I will just have to go and turn the sewing room upside down looking for it. When will I ever actually put something away in a sensible place?

In other sewing pattern news: I am seriously considering selling off my vintage patterns. I have about 30+ original uncut sewing patterns from the 40's and 50's which I bought following an idea to make reproduction vinatge clothing from original patterns but quickly became aware that I didn't really have time to do so. They are mostly beautiful yet wearable dresses in sizes 12-14. Should I sell them and save myself an extra bit of packing or shall I hang on to them a bit onger because I love them in the hope that maybe I will actually manage to get around to making one of them one day?
