There's a tiny cafe on the corner of the street next to their new headquarters, and the cute old lady who runs it plasters the walls and windows with little inspirational quotes that usually make him scoff and choke on his scorching latte.
The first time he really reads the words is after Try to Copy Me comes out and critics are saying nasty things about repetitive beats and too much autotune and--God forbid--plagiarism. Youngbae shoves him into a sofa-chair, and Teddy looks up, a little surprised to see a short English note tacked high, next to the menu proudly declaring the soup of the day.
"Go left," he murmurs, smiling wryly, and Youngbae follows his eyes, mouths the complete phrase. It takes the kid a second to process it, but then he¡¯s chuckling quietly into his palm.
"So cheesy," Youngbae comments in barely accented English, and Teddy shrugs in agreement, but the saying stays with him all the way back to the studio, flits at the edges of his mind when he scribbles out lyrics and the hook to one of Big Bang's new songs. He always did get the best motivation from the unlikeliest of places.
