Dad’s leg is getting worse, but he’s having an operation on Friday barring any complications so that’s sort of good news.
I expect a lot of backlash for not hanging out with everyone yesterday. It sounded like quite a party, but for the same reason as stated above I couldn’t make it. However, I did spend time with Mom and Dad playing Scrabble. It was absolutely WILD. :) It was actually kind of fun hanging out with them even though the only words I could spell were pelvic, porn, ova, and rod. Scrabble is rather smutty.
Today, I ate breakfast with them and tried to show my mom how to use her new cell phone even though I’m convinced she’ll forget what I taught her. (“See, mom, that OK button brings you to the menu.” “Which button?”) Afterward, we dropped Dad off at home and the two of us when bargain hunting at the 7th avenue flea market. I got this awesome snow scene painting on velvet fabric, so pretty.
Then we saw Eight Below and you know what? It was entertaining even if it was extremely maudlin at some parts, but Huskies and Paul Walker with Jason Biggs as comedic relief. I dare you to resist that. Definitely worth seeing at least once even if on DVD. It was drama with a half documentary feel to it. Anyway, it was so sappy that I came home hugged Gaius who looks just a tad bit like a Husky and tossed him some scraps.
While we’re on this train of thought, yesterday was the start of the Iditarod, a sled dog race in commemoration of the medicine supply run from Anchorage to Nome.
Check it out the details
here. When I was little I really want to join this race and then I discovered my contempt for below freezing temperatures. Oh well.
P.S. I'm still working on my Eight/Six piece which I hope to have up by Friday.
