So. Doctor Who! That just happened! And I have many thoughts but on the whole I think I will save them until we've seen part two of this episode. IN MOFFAT WE TRUST. He earned that from me last season with
the way he handled Rory, and Rory's 'death', and Rory/Amy, and I feel obligated to give him at LEAST one more episode to deal with the things that are making me go, bwah? And hey, in the meantime:
HOW SO SCARY, FORGETTING MONSTERS? HOW SO AWESOME, RIVER SONG? *happy glomp*
The problem is, next week is so far away! This is a large part of why I try not to get involved in ongoing television series. So much better to wait for it to get cancelled and then watch the whole thing in one vast galloping gulp! In related news, I may or may not have finished watching all of Sanctuary released to date. I can neither confirm nor deny these rumours. *sheepish*
Also, re: Sanctuary's episode "Kali": Argh argh argh why hello there, embarrassment squick! I haven't seen you since I last watched something with Gaius Baltar in it. Pls to be going away now? And if the universe can't make my embarrassment quick go away, can it at least please make
crazy!hallucinating! Will stop dancing? Bollywood!Sanctuary = not my new favourite thing in the world, kthnx.
Also, does every TV show in the world have to have a tacky Kali-related storyline? I mean, okay. If I'm being totally honest, I actually really enjoyed this particular take on the concept. I thought it was one of the better ones I've seen, and it did interesting things with the whole creator/destroyer idea. It just makes me feel sort of... icky and appropriative. IDK. What IS it about Kali, out of all the deities in the world, that makes her so appealing to Western authors and scriptwriters?
On a more upbeat note: Nikola Tesla. And his accent in the flashbacks. ("I'm proud to offer you now the chance to serve your country." "...I'm Serbian." *dies*) And if you've watched Sanctuary, you understand why those two things are more than sufficient to compensate for any Kali-related strangeness. *grin*
