Death by Domon/Sion fluff

May 27, 2006 16:44

I said I'd try to post more often here (which may very well be possible, since I seem to be in the middle of a sentai fic writing frenzy), so... yay Timeranger fic? This was written for 30_romances, BTW.

Fandom: Mirai Sentai Timeranger
Title: Good Verbal Skills
Author: Mariko Azrael
Theme: #35, memory (I'm replacing this with theme #28)
Pairing/Characters: Domon (Timeyellow)/Sion (Timegreen)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Toei's, not mine
Summary: Spoilers for up to Case 7. And I've seen about half of the show raw, and a third of it subbed, and I haven't written much fic for the series/pairing, so what I'm saying is apologies if it's too OOC and if you have any suggestions as to remedying that... please to be telling me. =/

Domon had to talk to someone. Otherwise he was going to go crazy from homesickness-- again. His memories of his family and his old life were just that, nothing more. But if he spoke those memories out loud they became something else. They became something he could touch if he could reach just a little further. It was easier to picture the faces in his head, the pain was a little easier to deal with, and sometimes he actually thought he might see them again one day. The problem was finding someone willing to listen.

He spoke to Ayase only when he absolutely had to. He tried Tatsuya, but was pretty sure that looking bored and nodding whenever he paused didn't count. And as for Yuuri... after what happened between her and Mad Blast, he knew damn well better than to unload onto her how hard it was missing his big, happy family. So through process of elimination, Sion wound up being the one he talked to.

Honestly, he wondered why he didn't think of going to him in the first place. Sion was a great listener; laughing and/or offering sympathy at the right times, asking him what happened next, eager to know the slightest details. Even if he was busy with whatever invention he was working on at the time he wanted to hear what he had to say, asking him to speak a little louder please over the whirr of machinery.

Then one day while Domon was telling him about the time he and his youngest brother had gotten in enough trouble for his grandfather to chase them not only out of the house, but halfway across town, Sion smiled bittersweetly and said even if they did fight a lot, it must've been nice to have so many people who cared about you around. It was at that exact moment Domon realized just how much of a selfish bastard he really was.

"Damn it-- Sion, I'm sorry, I completely forgot--"

"What are you talking about?"

He didn't want to bring up any more bad memories then he already had. "I mean... you grew up with pretty much no one, and here I am, whining about how much I miss my grandparents and all my brothers and sisters and I never even once thought..." He felt unbelievably stupid as he stared down at his hands. "For what it's worth, I really am sorry."

Sion gave him a puzzled look, and then smiled a smile much different from the last one. "Don't be silly." Domon was surprised but didn't pull away when he took his hand in his. To almost anyone it would have been a romantic gesture, but this was the kid who saw no problem telling him he loved him in front of a small crowd (and now that he remembered that it occurred to him that maybe Sion did mean it as a romantic gesture, but he decided to block that out for now). "Domon-san, I like hearing about your family. They all sound really nice and judging by the way your face lights up when you talk about them you like talking as much as I do listening. And, um, this is going to sound stupid," he added as his face turned bright red, "but after all the stories you've told me, well... sometimes feel like I'm almost a part of it, too."

There were a lot of things Domon wanted to say, but knew if he did, it would be the first time Sion wouldn't listen to him. So instead he asked with just the right amount of suspense in his voice, "So... wanna know happened when Grandpa told Grandma?"

Sion nodded enthusiastically.

"Okay, I knew I was already in trouble, but when she found out, I figured I was good as dead. So then..."
