She walked into the building and sighed. After all she had never expected her life to such an unexpected turn. Then again who would ever imagine that after being in an orphanage for as long as she could remember with only a name to go on that she would be adopted by someone from overseas on her 17th birthday? Either way she had traveled to Japan to meet her new family which had turned out to be quite an interesting situation. She had met her host family right away but it was sometime before she met the man she now called Grandfather. Either way she fought with him constantly and hardly ever saw him after that final year of high school. Now having just finished her Bachelor’s degree in International Business with three minors in Japanese, Korean and Mandarin she decided it was time to meet with the old man once more. Granted she had met with him once or twice, like on her birthdays but it always seemed to end with them arguing over some silly matter.  So now after five years in the country she finally found herself standing in the middle of the lobby of the company that her Grandfather ran.
She looked around for a few minutes longer before pulling out the pass he had given her the first time they had met. She hung it around her neck and wore a fierce look that dared anyone to question her presence. As she walked through the lobby up to the main secretary she was met by several security checkpoints. One glance at the tag however gave her instance access and so she made it up to the desk without any problem. When she reached the desk however the women behind the desk paid her no mind and didn’t flinch when she tried to call her attention. Finally fed up with it all she ripped the phone away from the woman and told the person on the other end that he would have to call back. The poor secretary looked shocked and she could tell from her look that she was debating on whether to call security or just to slap her. Deciding to take the initiative she spoke first.
“I apologize for my behavior but you were not paying attention. Now if you could be so kind as to tell me what floor the president’s office is on I shall take my leave.”
The poor woman was so flabbergasted that she barely managed to spit out “20th” before the younger woman turned on her heel and headed for the elevator. She paid no attention to her surrounding and simply walked up to the elevator and pressed the call button. After a few minutes it dinged and as she turned a group of guys came rushing in and piled inside. One of them apologized for the crowd but she simply shrugged and asked what floor. He told her “20th” and she nodded secretly wondering how many people were going to see Grandfather this afternoon. Not caring really she pressed the button and listened to the idle chatter around her as the lift took them up. She heard a couple of the guys discussing concert details while another was busy playing a videogame. The other two were discussing dance moves from the sound of things. She processed the information and with her interest peaked turned to look at the five men who were in the elevator with her. Noticing her appraising look the one who had apologized to her stopped his conversation and looked around at the others. He watched as the girl looked at them all before pulling out one of the newer Android AU models and looking something up. After finding what she was looking for she simply nodded and met his glance briefly before turning back to face the front.
Once the elevator dinged she got off and walked up to yet another secretary. She felt the five guys behind her but paid them no head. Instead she stopped and asked the woman to inform the president that Li Satorou was there to see him. The woman just shrugged her off and instead paid attention to the five men behind her.
“Arashi minna-san… I shall let Kitagawa-san know you have arrived. I am sorry ma’am but he is very busy today so unless you have an appointment…”
She smiled viciously and the secretary visibly paled.
“Of course I have an appointment so unless you let him know now that I have arrived I WILL go in there unannounced.”
The secretary paled further and the five men, Arashi gaped at her openly. The secretary quickly picked up the phone and made a call to the president. Her features became confused with whatever answer she was given but nonetheless she affirmed the order and hung up before looking up at the people around her desk.
“Ano… Arashi minna-san he is ready to see you, and Satorou-san he said to send you in as well.”
She smirked at the six shocked faces before walking towards the door. One of the five members opened it before her and held it open. She thanked him before walking in obviously avoiding contact with the idol who looked thoroughly confused. Either way she led the march into the presidents’ office. As she approached the desk she felt a burning in her chest and began to walk slower without realizing it. Finally she stopped a good distance from the desk where the man was sitting with his back to the room. The members of Arashi went and sat on the couch that faced the large desk. As if sensing their presence he turned but immediately singled her out.
“I will be with you all momentarily. Now then, since this is the first time I have seen you in sometime how about you come over and greet me properly…”
She felt her face flush but proceeded cautiously forward until she reached the desk. The old man beckoned for her to come around the desk. She felt her lips twist into a grimace but nonetheless she went around the desk and stood in front of the old man.
“My, my but I think you may be even more beautiful than I last saw you. Perhaps graduating has made you mature some…”
She frowned at the comment and stuck her tongue out at the man who chuckled.
“Or perhaps not but I am still quite pleased that you finally decided to step foot in my humble little abode.”
Unable to take it anymore she bit her lip and wiped away the traitor tears that spilled over.
“It’s really shitty of you to be so damn nice after all that you put me through. First I have to go through all sort of shit just to get up here and then have to deal with all your damned condescending people. And on top of that the only way I find out anything about you is through stupid news articles. Why didn’t you let me know you were ok after someone got into your apartment? Do you know how worried I was Grandda? Or do you even care?”
He smiled gently and stood up to hug her. She finally broke down and hugged him back. All the while Johnny watched his idols for some sign of movement. He noticed their shock but was pleased when they managed to keep their mouths shut for the time being. Finally she pulled away and took the handkerchief he offered with a grimace and dried her face. She took a few deep breaths before looking at him again and simply frowned.
“So you have been well then? I didn’t see you at graduation but I suppose you were busy?”
“Actually I was there and I watched you accept the diploma but I had to leave after that. Who do you think got you those flowers?”
“Oh… I just assumed they were from the school… You were really there? Thank you Grandda!”
He smiled before turning his attention to the others in his office.
“Now then minna-san I believe introductions are in order. This young woman is my adopted Granddaughter Elizabeth Satorou but she prefers to go by Li. Anyway she just graduated with a degree in International Business as well as a minor in Asian languages. So she will probably be working with us to do promotions overseas. Li, these are the members of Arashi who I believe you are already familiar with. Li, you see, is a fan of many of our groups but you all are her favorite.”
Now it was their turn to stare at the young woman who simply shrugged and nodded. They had never met a fan who was so calm but they assumed that being the granddaughter of their president had something to do with that. Either way they stood up and all introduced themselves personally to the young woman who wasted no time in shortening their names to more manageable lengths. Aiba was ecstatic when the young woman referred to him immediately as Aiba-chan and happily bounced around the room. The others simply conceded to the nicknames and smiled as she looked at her grandfather in a condescending manner. Before she could speak however her phone rang and she picked it up quickly speaking Korean to whoever was on the other line. As she hung up with a smile she turned her fierce stare back at her grandfather.
“Well then I suppose I will have to just come back later this afternoon to get the tour of the place…”
“And just who was that?” Johnny sounded tired and frustrated as he spoke.
“Who else? Jang Geum Suk Oppa…. I am meeting him for coffee in order to discuss his schedule for next week and then I believe Nagase-kun and I will be meeting for lunch… So I will just come back with him this afternoon and take my official tour then.”
The members of Arashi were shocked to hear their sempais’ name come from the young girls’ mouth. They were even more shocked as she left the office and didn’t say another word. Sho turned to look as their boss and was shocked to see him glaring at the now closed door. He quickly held up a hand to signal their patience and dialed his phone. It rang twice before the person answered.
“Nagase just what the hell are you doing with my granddaughter?! Lunch my ass… I swear to all that is holy if you lay one finger on her I will personally castrate you… We will see.”
The members of Arashi gulped and looked around to see who would be the bravest to speak first. Finally Jun sighed and looked directly at their boss.
“Just how familiar is Li-san with the company sir?”
Johnny chuckled at the man’s brave façade and shook his head.
“She has met a few people through business meetings but you all are the first group she is meeting fully. The others she only met who she felt like she wanted to. Otherwise she refused to even see me which is part of the reason I set this first meeting here with you all present. Anyway the details of the latest concert report just came in and the figures look good. Keep up the good work gentlemen and do me a favor and try to look out for that little witch for me… Fair warning though. Do not fall for her. She wants nothing to do with any idols, so she says.”
The idols all respectively gave their farewells and left their boss to go back to his work. As they left they passed by the secretary who was busy talking on the phone with someone about the ‘young brat’ who had just burst into Kitagawa-san’s office. Aiba chuckled and wrote on top of the secretarys’ paper before leaving. As they reached the elevator they heard the woman gasp. Sho chuckled as Jun bopped Aiba on the back of the head and the five headed for their green room. One thing they were certain of was that if she hung around for any extended period of time things were certainly going to be interesting.
Meanwhile Li had just parked her car outside of a small coffee shop. She walked inside and went instinctively to the back corner after letting the manager know of her presence. She continued back knowing her usual would show up shortly. In the secluded back Jang Geum Suk, Korean actor, sat reading a newspaper. She chuckled at his furrowed brow as she sat. He looked up with a childish grin and held a hand across the table to greet her. They enjoyed a few minutes of silence during which her coffee showed up. After she had taken a few sips she pulled out a packet of paper and handed it to the tall man. He grinned and leafed through. After he finished he spoke to her in Korean.
“Everything looks to be in order Li ah. I assume you got the email with my schedules and have planned accordingly, judging by the paperwork here. So this meeting was just to see my pretty face then?”
“Hah ha… I was going to ask you the same thing Jang Oppa. But you know that I prefer to deliver these things personally. Anyway I guess I will see you at the office next week and we can start advertising work. How does that sound?”
“Perfect… As usual. I guess you will be leaving me now to meet your… friend.”
She grinned at the hesitation and nodded slightly. He shook his head in disbelief before wishing her luck and standing up to hug her goodbye. She accepted the hug and left the coffee shop. Once back at her car she glanced at the time and smiled. She should arrive at the restaurant with just enough time to spare since Nagase was constantly 15 minutes late. She drove quickly to the small Italian restaurant and after finding parking walked back to the front of the restaurant. She decided originally to wait at the door for the man but she was surprised when the maître de told her that her party was inside waiting for her. Confusedly she walked to the reserved back room and opened the door cautiously. As she feared the entirety of Tokio was sitting waiting for her. Noticing the door crack open Nagase looked up and caught the young woman’s deadly glare. He knew how uncomfortable she was around Idols but had decided that enough was enough. He motioned to an open seat and when she refused he got up with a broad grin. She tried to back away quickly but ended up tripping over her feet. Nagase slipped out of the room and offered a hand to help her up. She looked pitifully up at him and he saw the blatant fear in her eyes. Sighing he crouched down and picked her up and carried her into the room. She was clinging to him for dear life and looked as if she might murder him on the spot. When he returned to the dining room carrying a young woman the rest of his band simply sighed.
Joshima frowned and told the younger man to put the poor thing down before she died of fright. This simply made Nagase laugh boldly before finally setting her down on her feet. They took notice that the man had not been exaggerating the young woman’s looks when he had described her to them. She stood just at his shoulder in the death trap heels she wore which just meant normally she would only reach about the middle of the man’s chest. She had curly brown hair that was sun kissed with natural highlights but her eyes were certainly the drawing point. They were a cloudy grey blue with a dark ring around the iris. She was curvy in all the right places and looked as if she might have just stepped out of a magazine shoot. Or normally would had the man not just scared the daylights out of her. No, at that moment she resembled more of a frightened cat than anything else. Joshima cleared his throat and the girl jumped at the sound. She turned to face the man with a look of dread.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Satorou-san. Tomo has told us a lot about you and it seems most of it was true. I am Joshima Shigeru.”
She nodded and flinched when the other stood to introduce themselves as well.
“Yamaguchi Tatsuya, the pleasure is mine Satorou-san.”
“Kokubun Taichi, it’s really a pleasure to know that Nagase wasn’t talking out his ass again Satorou-san.”
“Matsuoka Masahiro, it’s a pleasure Li-san.”
She had been avoiding their gazes all this time but when Matsuoka called her by her preferred name she finally looked up at their smiling faces. She gave the slightest smile and bowed in response before finally allowing Nagase to lead her to the seat beside his. After that fiasco was over they ordered food and sat in relative peace for few minutes anyway. But there was never any keeping Nagase quiet.
“So Li… Why don’t you tell the others a little about yourself since I’m sure they are tired as all hell hearing about it from me.”
“Tch… How about talking AFTER you eat not during… Ugh… Anyway what’s to tell since you have probably told them everything? I am 23 years old, just graduated from Keio and will be working with JE for advertising purposes. I am Johnny’s granddaughter and I hate idols.”
The others stopped to stare at the young woman who was staring down at her hands while Nagase reached over and placed a comforting and encouraging hand on her shoulder. After a few minutes she heaved a sigh and without looking up continued on.
“The reason I dislike idols is because shortly after I came to Japan grandda decided to take me to lunch and went to a place frequented by idols. He got a phone call and left me sitting by myself. After a few minutes our food arrived but he still wasn’t back so I decided to just start. I had no sooner reached for my chopsticks when I heard a commotion and suddenly a man pushed his way into our room. He looked over at me and motioned for me to stay quiet. He came towards me and I backed into the corner. He continued forward and finally I found my voice and screamed. The man slapped me hard enough to knock my head into the wall. After that someone came in and pulled him off me but all I can remember them saying is ‘damn idols… always intent on making a scene’ When Grandda finally returned I told him in no uncertain terms that I would never work in his industry and left. He apparently heard what happened from the restaurant because the man was arrested. He tried to console me by telling me that the man wasn’t an idol but someone who had been rejected but that didn’t help any. Just thinking that because of the Idol mentality that man was so close to doing something to me. I lost it.”
The room was quiet as she finished speaking and she was so absorbed in not having a panic attack that she didn’t notice when Joshima stood up and walked over to stand beside her. She looked up shocked and he smiled gently. Since Nagase was holding her in place she couldn’t move away from the man but he still made no effort to touch her but crouched down at her level.
“Li-san… Do you honestly believe any of us here would do anything like that to you? Or let anything like that happen?”
She shook her head slowly before looking the older man directly in the eyes and saying “But I’m scared.” Joshima nodded and gently placed his hand over the young woman’s with a kind smile.
“Do you think you can try to trust us?”
She nodded slowly and was surprised when the man patted her head gently like he might a small child. It was then she realized that he probably saw her as such since he was almost old enough to be her father. With a hidden smiled she took the initiative and hugged the man around the neck. He was surprised at the gesture but could feel the girl trembling in fear over the small gesture. He chuckled and simply patted her back and let her release when she was ready. After a few seconds she pulled back and thanked him for being so kind. He smiled gently but the moment was ruined when suddenly Nagase declared a group hug and she suddenly found herself surrounded by five men. At first she froze but after a few seconds she relaxed a little and turned to find Nagase protecting her from the others. She smacked his chest with a grin and the others heard her pealing laughter for the first time. After that the meal went smoothly and Li found herself opening up just a little bit to the crazy guys. She called them all by nicknames (much to their dismay) but when it came to Nagase that was all she called him. The other protested and she simply shrugged.
Later that afternoon Johnny witnessed something that he thought he would never experience in his lifetime. He was in the main lobby waiting for his granddaughter to come waltzing in and was shocked when she came in trailing the whole of Tokio behind her. He now understood Nagase’s comment of just a little get together and couldn’t help but smile. She looked more comfortable than he had seen her in a while and Johnny made a mental note to thank the group later, much later.
2 months later…
Li ran into the Jimusho after minimal sleep the previous night cursing the day she agreed to work with Johnny’s for advertising. Normally advertising did not involve working directly with the idols but in her case it was required. She rushed through the necessary security checks before finally winding up at the elevator. That morning she had a meeting with Arashi, Tokio, Ueda and Kame. Afterwards she had to go to a meeting with Koike and finally Gang suk. It was going to be a long day and she knew the night would be longer since she was supposed to be going to a celebratory party for Tokio. She sighed and once more cursed her work before getting off the elevator and heading for the green room.
She went inside without knocking and found a familiar sight. She simply shook her head at their antics and set the paperwork out on the small table and made sure everything was in order before turning around. Jun had already stood up and walked over when she had entered but the others were still engrossed in their activities.
“Oi Minna! Can we get this started please? I have a long day ahead of me.”
The others looked up and put down what they were doing but none made the effort to move which was fine with her. She handed them the packets and started explaining the advertising that was going to be done. Mostly it was going to be pushing their new single as well as Sho’s latest drama. She brought up a few points about concert prep to Jun who promised to look over the information before she moved onto choreography. She asked Ohno to meet with the choreographer later that week so that the pv shooting could get started sooner rather than later. He acknowledged the request and soon they were busy discussing the minor details that Li was famous for spotting. Before long two hours had passed and they had only gotten through ¾ of the information but Li knew she had to go to her other meetings. She apologized to the guys and ran down the hall where she would find Ueda and Kame. Happily she found them both together and managed to get both of their meeting done within another two and a half hours. Finally she made her way to where she would find Tokio. She went inside the room and collapsed on the couch. The five men returned from getting drinks to find her half asleep on the couch with paperwork spread on the table in front of her. Nagase grinned and made as to leap on the girl and would have succeeded if Matsuoka had not grabbed him at the last second. The heard a groan and the girl sat up and looked at the wearily.
“Thanks Mabo… I might have died if that moron had actually done that. Anyway minna, the paperwork here is just basic promotional work and is pretty self-explanatory. Read it through and ask me any questions you have. Meanwhile I think I’m gonna nap.”
And she did just that as the members all got themselves settled she found herself sleeping in Nagase’s lap while the man attempted to read the paperwork around her tiny frame. After a few minutes they each took turns asking their questions for which she would answer sleepily without ever actually moving. The meeting was the shortest one she had lasting just under an hour but she knew she had to travel for the last two meeting so she wasn’t too thrilled. Either way she yawned as they finished and stood up gathering her things. She said her goodbyes and promised to see the men later that evening.
The rest of the day went by quickly and before she knew it the party was just around the corner. She was getting dressed at her apartment when she got a message on her phone. It was from Nagase and the after reading it the look in the girl’s eyes could only be described as murderous. She changed her outfit once more and left her apartment for the party. Meanwhile Nagase sighed as he sent the message. He thought he was doing the right thing yet somewhere else he still felt like maybe it hadn’t been a good idea to say that after he had been with the girl for nearly six months. Granted they weren’t openly dating but even Kiatagawa had noticed how relaxed she was around the older man and had told him “If you hurt her I will kill you” This was in his mind an even greater threat than the one he had received previously but he still felt like the young woman should try to find someone her own age rather than a man 10 years her senior. Joshima noticed the youngest member of their group sigh as he closed his phone and walked over to see what was wrong.
“This is a celebration and the lovely little Li should be here shortly so what’s with the depressed sigh?”
“She won’t come… Or I told her not to anyway…”
“Why? Think you are too old for her? That she should find someone younger?... Tell me you didn’t actually tell her that…”
Nagase could only nod as Joshima shook his head in disbelief. The two sat in silence for a few minutes which was broken when a commotion was heard across the room. Nagase looked up and swallowed a lump in his throat at the sight before him. Li was standing in the doorway and if looks could kill he would have been dead. But he would have died happy because she was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. Even though anger clouded her eyes the short skin tight red dress that only hung on one shoulder and landed just a few inches above her knees had the men in the room already seeing stars. As if that weren’t enough her brown hair was teased around her face making her eyes stand out that much more. She stalked across the room in death-trap heels and wound up standing a few feet in front of the pair. She smiled kindly at Joshima before turning her glare on Nagase.
“Shige, could you do me a favor and leave us for a few minutes?”
“Un.. just do ME a favor and try not to leave any visible marks.”
She smiled as the man left but that smile soon left her face. Instead it was replaced by a look of sadness Nagase hadn’t seen since he had met the spunky young woman. Seeing that look back in her eyes and realizing he was the reason it was there simply tore at his heart. Without thinking he stood up and yanked the girl into a bone crushing hug.
“I’m so sorry… I didn’t want to hurt you; I just want you to be happy.”
“Tch… A-and you t-think I wouldn’t be h-happy with you? Dumbass! If I wanted a younger man I would have already found someone. You are the only one I feel comfortable around. You are the only one I show up in the middle of the night at their apartment because I know however shitfaced you already are you will take care of me. You are the only one… I can imagine saying I love you to and meaning it in more than just a friendly way.”
Nagase stared down at her bright eyes and gently kissed her forehead.
“I am the world’s biggest idiot aren’t i? I’m sorry for not realizing it before though apparently the others already had. Even your damn grandfather.”
She chuckled softly and hugged the man back finally. He looked down at her and kissed her forehead again before finally letting her go. For the rest of the evening he watched as she flitted around like the social butterfly she was but she always ended up coming back to him. His bandmates teased him unmercifully for letting a ‘little girl’ have such control over him and he took it all in stride knowing that they were happy for him. He watched and laughed as the young woman flitted from person to person drawing close then running away when they tried the same. She was constantly looking out for him while still paying attention to those in the industry. Once she lost sight of him and immediately panic set in. Thankfully though he kept a close eye on her, as did the others; noting the panicked stance Nagase looked for his closest band mate. Mabo nodded and made his way quickly over to where the girl was. Li felt the world going dizzy when suddenly a familiar presence and voice was at her side. She glanced up as Matsuoka supported her gently and eased into the conversation. She spoke in a small voice.
“Matsu-nii… How do you manage to always show up at the strangest times?”
“ha ha ha… It’s a gift I suppose.”
She smiled slightly and leaned into the older man’s support. The other watched from a safe distance and were glad to have such a strong connection with the shy young woman. The party went on for a few more hours before finally everyone started to leave. The members of Tokio said their goodbyes and went to find Li who had curled up in a corner since she was so tired. Nagase found her first and couldn’t help but shake his head. She looked up as he came close and he could tell that she was in no condition to drive home.
“I’ll drive you home… Where are your keys?”
“… I took a taxi… You made me so angry… Let’s just go home please, I really tired.”
Nagase looked torn but finally decided that it would be best to simply bring the girl back to his apartment. He picked her up and smiled when she instinctually wrapped her arms around his neck. Together with the others they walked to their cars where no one said anything as he placed the girl in the front seat of his car and drove off. They arrived at his apartment and Nagase could only grin as he easily carried the girl’s weightless form up to his apartment. They were inside at the door when suddenly she came to and demanded to be put down. He allowed her to stand only to have to keep hold of her as she attempted to undo her heels. Finally he made her sit and watch as he carefully removed them for her. HE picked her up and carried her to his bedroom where he carefully placed her in the center if the large bed. She looked up at him like a kid as he towered over her. He turned to take his tie off when he felt a hand on his sleeve.
“Ne, can I sleep in your shirt?”
Nagase looked down at her and pondered over the simple question. It shocked him even though it was a very innocent request. HE shrugged the shirt off and she took it as she trudged to the bathroom. As she was passing him she paused and asked him to unzip her dress. He did this task as well and she rushed to the bathroom. He chuckled when he heard the ‘snick’ of the lock. In the bathroom she quickly took her makeup off, secretly glad that she hardly ever put any makeup on even for evening parties. After washing off the minimal makeup she stripped the dress off and slipped the long man’s shirt over her shoulders. After rolling up the sleeves to just above her elbows she then buttoned up the shirt enough to just cover her underwear. Looking in the mirror she had to laugh at the sight of her frame kind of floating in the large dress shirt. Either way she left the bathroom yawning to find the bed covers rolled down but only one pillow remained. She frowned at the sight and snuck out to the living room only to find Nagase half asleep on the couch.
She made a rude noise before all but pouncing on the man. His eyes opened startlingly fast and found himself face to face with a little tiger. She grinned happily before settling down stretched across his frame. HE groaned and she simply smiled and butted his head gently.
“If I wanted you to sleep on the couch I would have told you so. Stop being a dumbass who thinks he knows everything and just come sleep with me. Otherwise I may do something you will regret…”
Knowing the threat was real he sighed and with a grin of his own tossed the girl over his shoulder before proceeding to the bedroom with his things. He dropped her in the middle of the bed were she scrambled to sit up and glare at him for a few minutes. He chuckled and collapsed on the bed next to her which caused her to give a startled squawk as she got out of his way. He gripped her wrist in one hand and pulled her against his chest with a smile. She simply snuggled up against him and before long both were sleeping soundly, probably the best either had slept in some time.
Nagase woke up the next morning to his phone ringing and Li sleeping soundly at his side. He carefully reached for his phone and answered it quietly. He listened to the persons on the other line for a few minutes before hanging up with a sigh. His band mates would be over shortly which meant that he needed to get up. So he eased out of the bed making sure that the girl was still covered and went to his closet to pick out clothes. After he finished dressing he went out to the main room just in time to watch his band mates walk in the front door using his spare key. The grinned at him and held up a bag in their defense, which turned out to have an outfit that the four men had bought on their way over since as Mabo so lovingly put it.
“I don’t think Kitagawa would be impressed to see her dressed like THAT in the office…”
The five crowded around his kitchen table and watched as the youngest member made coffee for the young woman. It was Tatsuya who finally asked the question they were all dying to know.
“So judging by the lack of bed stuffs out here are we to assume you finally slept with the presidents’ daughter?”
“Granddaughter… and I slept NEXT to her you pervs!”
Laughter was heard from the door and they all turned to see the girl in question standing in the doorway, wearing just his dress shirt. She looked around the room at the others but her gaze lingered on the seat where Mabo currently was. There were two cups of coffee sat there and she knew one was hers. Since he wasn’t getting the hint she shrugged and before Nagase could warn him the girl had sauntered up and planted herself on his lap. Everyone looked at him in shock and the poor man could only gape as she reached calmly for the cup of coffee. After taking a long sip she half turned and looked at the man with raised eyebrows.
“’s my seat.”
The utter absurdity normally would have made them all laugh but she was so serious that Taichi and Joshima decided to diffuse the situation by showing the girl the clothes. She looked between them and the clothes she had been presented. After a few minutes she smiled brightly and skipped to the bedroom to change. They heard the shower run and fifteen minutes later she came out dressed in jeans and a loose v neck shirt which fit her personality perfectly. The shirt had ‘The heart of Johnny’s… is me’ printed on the back and front. She chuckled at the absurdity of it but thanked the men nonetheless. Then looking at her clock she sighed.
“Ne minna, it’s time we get to work… oh… and Tomoya… it’s time for you to man up and tell Grandda…”
The others laughed as the younger man’s face paled slightly. However it subsided when the young woman walked over and kissed him boldly. He could only grin and together they left the apartment hand in hand. On their way to the Jimusho he told her of his worries and silently ran through all of the terrible scenarios in his head. She finally stopped his reveries by telling him a secret.
“Just to let you know… He won’t do anything to you… Because he just wants to see me happy. And he knows I am sure as hell not going to interfere in you work.”
Nagase could only nod and stare ahead as they arrived and parked. They walked in hand and hand to the building and were greeted by applause from both Sempai and Kouhai alike. Li grinned at the others while looking for her grandfather while Nagase joked with his coworkers. After spotting him she reached out and grabbed his wrist and dragged him over to where the president waited. Nagase came to stand behind the girl and rested his hands on her shoulder and waist all the while waiting for his boss’s response. The elder man made a face that was equally met by a glare from the young woman. Finally he sighed and shook his head.
“It would be a lot easier to tell you to stay the hell away from my granddaughter if you hadn’t come in with her. And if this wasn’t the happiest I have ever seen her. Just do me a huge favor and save me the heart attack of a shotgun wedding…”
Nagase grinned as the young woman complained about the old man embarrassing her. But then he did something that even Li had no idea was coming. He had discussed it with his friends while she was sleeping and in the shower and decided it was now or never.
“If it’s alright with you sir I would like to make our relationship official and get married this weekend. I know how much you said you don’t want a large ceremony… yet… but if we are married it would make living together much easier to understand.”
Now it was Li’s turn to stare open mouthed at the tall man and blush furiously as what he was asking registered. She was silent for a few minutes before looking at him very seriously.
“If we do this… I am never letting you go… That means you can’t decide the next drama you shoot that you would rather date the older model actress than your youngster of a wife…”
Nagase simply responded by pulling her close and whispering in her ear.
“That’s just fine with me dear… Seeing as I am liable to kill the next man to look at you the wrong way like last night… So how about we call it even and just agree that we belong to each other…”
She nodded her head slightly and the flash in her eyes was the only warning he got before she kissed him yet again. This time they were rewarded by applause all around, as well as some colorful words from her secretly overjoyed grandfather. As the crowd dispersed she still clung to him and stared out the glass window in front of them. After a few minutes she glanced up to find that he was staring down lovingly at her.
“Ne baka… You can’t go looking at me like that in public unless you wanna give the press plenty to talk about. Plus your poor fan girls…”
“Will just have to live with dreaming about Mabo… Cause the only girl who I’m going to look at like this from now on is you…”
“Until you have a concert and want to make those silly girls scream their heads off…”
“They can scream all they want but I can guarantee you that the look will still be directed at you… since you will be there…”
“So damn sure of yourself aren’t you?”
His answer was just to kiss her silly. When he pulled away her eyes were dancing with glee even as she held her self professionally and cleared her throat.
“Hmph… Let’s get to work baka. This is no time to be screwing around…”
“Nope… we’ll do that when we get home tonight…”
She smacked him in the back of the head for those words but there was no disguising the light blush on her cheeks and the smirk on her lips. Yes, she thought, tonight the others’ prediction would come true. Yup, he thought, tonight I certainly will be sleeping WITH the president’s daughter. With that thought in mind the pair headed off to work for the day. Li was surprised to find all of her appointments canceled except for the advertising with Tokio. After spending a few minutes calling everyone to confirm the cancellations and every time getting congratulations on her new relationship she gave up and headed to find her group, her morons, her friends. And her Tokio. She found them in a practice room attempting to practice but it seemed like things weren’t going smoothly. When she entered she heard Joshima telling Nagase to ‘get his head out of his ass’ while the younger man shrugged and nodded. She chuckled and told the older man not to bother since ‘Nagase doesn’t know how to think any other way’. They greeted her warmly and she settled herself in a corner to watch. Her presence made things run smoothly like always and soon they were having a wonderful time. After a few hours they took a break and as they all were heading off to find a drink Joshima really surprised her.
“You know kid… I think I’m going to like having you around. Life is never going to be dull and who knows maybe kids will make him calm down a bit.”
She chuckled at the last comment and shook her head.
“Kids won’t come until he grows up a little bit and I can get used to the fact that I fell in love with such an idiot…”
“You’ll never understand why sweetheart… Instead focus on the fact that I love you more than anyone else ever will and that I am never going to let you down…”
She turned around and smiled at her fiancé who was standing between Mabo and Tatsuya. The other two men rolled their eyes at his words but she rewarded him with quick kiss which only lead to her ending up on his back. His reasoning was that the damn heels couldn’t be comfortable. She snuggled against his back as they made their way through the halls and carefully thought about the past year of her life. It had been an interesting time to say the least but she finally came to the conclusion that she had fallen for the man when she had met him, big oaf that he was. He was impossible to not smile around even when she was absolutely scared witless of him and his kind. She chuckled at the thought and he asked what was so funny.
“hmm… nothing really… just thinking about everything… Ne… I really love you.”
“I know… I love you two.”
The couple’s confession was greeted by a cacophony of sound at the end of the hallway.  She glanced over his shoulder to see Ohno, Sho and Aiba smiling at the two. While Jun just stood with Matsuoka and Tatsuya looking unconcerned; Nino stood beside Joshima and Taichi making gagging sounds which earned him a smack from Taichi. She laughed at the sight and smiled warmly. She was glad that these guys had turned her life around and she was glad they were her friends because there was no other way she would get away with what she was about to do.
“Ne Tomoya… DO you want to just blow off work and spend the rest of the day in bed with me?”
The Nine men at the end of the hall went bug eyed for a few seconds which gave the couple enough time to turn and walk down the hall. As they were about to round the corner she heard one last message from their friends.
“Try not to get him killed before the wedding…”
She smiled and dragged the man home. As they were pulling out of the parking area Nagase turned and asked her a question.
“Where to boss?”
She answered the only way she knew how.
“Wherever you are.”
They drove off towards his apartment with smiles on their faces and the hands intertwined. This was just the first step into the rest of their lives.
