Today is my fourth anniversary of keeping this journal. If you look at the dates on my user page, you'll see it says 4/26/2001 for the start date; however, I didn't actually start writing anything here until January ninth of the following year. At that time, I was a member of a website/bulletin board called Chick Click, which was probably my first Internet home. I was expecting Avalon, so I hung out a lot in the parenting forum (especially the pregnancy thread), and I started noticing LiveJournal addresses in peoples signatures. I checked it out, and thought it looked like a good idea, so I created an account. I was still too busy messing around at ChickClick to do anything with it though. Later that year, though, ChickClick's parent website, IGN, decided to cut off its affiliates that weren't bringing in enough advertising dollars, so it was dropped. I followed a bunch of fellow users to another bulletin board, EstroV2, but that was short-lived; the people who ran that board couldn't afford the time or money to run it anymore, so it was also defunct after a few months of my being there.
That's when I started posting here, and I've been here ever since. I may not post every day, in fact lately I've been getting rather lax, but I've tried keeping paper journals before, and I've never been able to keep it up as long as I have here.
jedi_bunny was my first old ChickClick acquaintance to friend me here, followed later by
vwsrmylife,
angelsmum, and
vampgyrl. Others of you I found randomly, and you were gracious enough add me back; some of you I met in some other forum or communities here at LJ, a few of you I met in real life, a few of you I invited here and for some strange reason, you took me up on it. ;) Still others of you found me first and thought me interesting enough to add (!), something I still have a hard time getting my head around, but I'm flattered and grateful nevertheless. I'm not worthy - *bows to you*
I'm not sure I'm a better person for keeping this journal - I still have most of the same bad habits I had when I started, and have probably developed a few new ones - unless that is measured in what I've learned from all of you. Thank you.
Here's
my first entry, if you're curious...
