So, for as much as I complain about the environment at Lehigh, it has actually worked to my advantage today! When the "LU/UN Partnership" says, "who wants to go to the UN for two days?" and then throws $500 at an Asian Studies major who doesn't know jack-shit about the UN for "enthusiasm", THAT my friends is the comparative Lehigh lack of interest working to your advantage.
I mean sure, I have no idea where I am staying, how I am getting to New York, or why on God's green Earth I am being allowed to represent my university in front of people who are actually smart. But who cares! I get to be in a "youth Forum" on "Our Common Humanity in the Technology Age"! I wonder if I have to buy a suit! Who cares, I'm not going to, unless Lehigh wants to pay for it, which with $500, maybe they can! I am going to take SO MANY PICTURES.
Oh I am in such a tizzy. And yeah, the director I spoke with from Lehigh basically said, "well, I'm leaving for vacation in an hour and I really can't talk to you, but we're excited that you're going! If you have questions, um, talk to the person who is in charge." So now I'm to ask a woman whose email address is deborah@WORLDPEACE.ORG "duhr...what am I supposed to wear to this thing?" SO GREAT. Oh but I don't care, I'm going to the fucking United Nations, and I am the luckiest little girl in town.
And since it is 10:30 in the morning I have no one to scream to, livejournal---my last line of communication when my joy simply MUST be communicated. Sorry. I am also really excited to come home for Thanksgiving and film more My Panic, then end :-D
