A girl in my hall told me today, as I was headed out the door to my meeting, that she finds it so hard to believe that I'm a Girl Scout leader. But why? Perhaps she does not consider me wholesome enough. But wholesomeness has nothing to do with it. Neither does goodness, or charity. I would go, for no other reason, but to listen to the words that pour forth (like so many marbles) from the mouths of second grade girls. Oh, this is no charity--I get paid. I get paid in hilarity.
For example, Sabrina came in with new shoes, today. They happened to be the same shoes as Julyssa's. During the friendship circle, Tyler pointed this out, saying "Look guys! Julyssa and Sabrina have the same pink sneakers." Julyssa looked at Sabrina, looked down at Sabrina's sneakers, looked back at her own, and quietly sighed, "Curse you." Not maliciously, and not in such a way that drew anyone's attention but mine...just, I don't know. It was the funniest thing I've heard all week, I think. She's freaking eight years old.
My favorite girl though, Yasmin--she's just amazing every minute. She is the smallest person I have ever known personally, and has a high-pitched version of Ed's voice from Ed Edd and Eddie. She is very strange, but also very perceptive and clever. We learned about strangers today, and everyone was asked to say what they would do if a stranger ever approached them. With her missing front teeth, husky voice, and puppy-like enthusiasm, she pipes up with "Hit them in the face." It was funny, because again, she is the smallest person I have ever known personally. And because she sounds like Brenna's impersonation of Ed.
Alright, I'm done boring everyone with stories about people they don't know. I have to go be a hostess now. <3 <3
