shooting hoops

in my dreams last night, I was a prince of Amber. Julia's reading the books, because I kept harassing her to do it. I think she's probably upstairs reading them right now *smiles*

I really identify with the Princes' ability to shift the shadows and change the world they're in. They can slowly move from the world they're in to another world, by changing elements that should be different. This stone moves from this side of the pathway to that side, and we're one step closer to the world we want. That tree's leaves change to purple, then blue, then back to green, and we're another step closer. etc...

For some reason I had to throw a ball into a hoop. It was like basketball, but much much harder - the hoop was only barely larger than the ball, which was a baseball. And the hoop was much farther away and much higher. There were other princes there too, also trying to shoot balls into their own hoops. I had a special trick... I smashed the ball into pieces and added water, making a bunch of goopy balls so I would have more tries and more practice than my neighbors. I think I managed to throw the ball in once, but I'm not really sure. It was REALLY hard. You have to throw the ball quite hard just to get it close to the hoop, and then you have to get your angle and spin just right, too. Reminds me of trying to get a really difficult bombline in continuum... not that that makes any sense to you.

I'm probably going to try to post my dreams more often. I have been dreaming a lot lately, and they're very vivid. I fly when I remember that I can, although for some reason I often forget. I have other powers too - basically anything I want, when I remember. If I'd thought about it, I could've made the ball automatically arc perfectly into the hoop... but that would've been cheating anyway, I think. The idea was to try to get my brain to push it properly... like training my cerebellum to make a good shot, or something. It's strange how the powers work... the last time I flew, the world distorted in tunnelvision all around me, as if I was moving faster than light. Freaky and awesome. I love dreaming. If only being awake could be half as interesting!
