Wow, I got kinda behind on this whole book review thing.
Never After by Rebecca Lickiss
Genre: YA Comedic High Fantasy (if that's enough genres for you)
Part of a Series? no
Rating: 6/10
This book was alright. It tried to amusingly break down fairy-tale cliches, and did a well enough job of it, I suppose. It wasn't really anything special though, and the majority of the characters were highly irritating.
Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
Genre: YA Victorian Fantasy
Part of a Series? Gemma Doyle trilogy, book 3
Rating: 8.5/10
This book was amazing, of course. The entire series is, and this was a wonderful end. I really didn't like the way this book ended, though. I mean, it made sense artistically and thematically and all that, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it. And it's always a little sad when a series ends too, but this one wrapped everything up nicely.
Book of Shadows by Cate Tiernan
Genre: YA Supernatural Fantasy Romance
Part of a Series? Sweep, book 1
Rating: 9/10
This book was kind of magical. I mean, it was about magic, but I just adored the entire thing. Thankfully, it's part of a long series (although, I read this one in a day, so it probably won't take me too long to get all caught up in it). It absolutely incorporated the best parts of YA-fiction with the fantasy genre and I can't wait to read the next one.
Not a lot else going on in my life at the moment. I'm heading to U of T on Tuesday for some information session thing to try to pick my cohort for the fall, which I'm all very confused about. Hopefully it will clarify things some. Also, I'm off my special diet. A girl can only avoid chocolate for so long until she cracks, apparently.
