Teaching in New Orleans right now is very difficult. Impossible to grasp the attention of my students for more than 30 seconds...fighting and cursing is constant, only a few are interested in learning. These poor souls are not to be blamed. Administration is overwhelmed and clueless as what to do, everyday a different plan and schedule. I lack necessary supplies, textbooks...no one listens to the teachers who are down in the trenches.
We are in desperate need of school psychologists and Social Workers. I'm weary.
