[HSJ] [Con Report] [2018.9.1] Sense or Love- Tokyo Musashino Sport Plaza
I wanted to consolidate all of my tweets about the Sense or Love concert I went to in Tokyo in September 2018 for my own reference, but it might be a fun read for anyone who didn't get to experience the con so here it is.
This con felt weird because it was literally the second concert HSJ put on after Keito left for New York, and was part of their "gymnasium tour" because it was taking place at a smaller sports arena than usual. It was interesting seeing all these regular high school students who were there for a sports event mixed in with the JUMP fans.
Everything under the cut is just copy-pastes of my tweets from when I went to the concert so it's probably going to be pretty incoherent.
[Hey! Say! JUMP SENSE or LOVE 2018.09.01 5 pm] CON REPORT
I was lucky enough to hit for a ticket and even luckier to get a seat near the very front of the arena!! This con report is more like a dump of my thoughts than anything. Apologies in advance for things being out of order
It was interesting see HSJ again without Keito there, and I did feel dissonance from that. To an extent I think the members did too, though they never really mentioned it
I really liked the opening video. Everybody looked so cool!! And lol it reminded me that I really do forget that yamada is a handsome boy sometimes but that video (and the rest of the con) reminded me that he is lovely to look at lol
I ended up looking at yamada a lot, though I did try to look at everyone equally/whoever was closest when I could haha ;;; I like the way he presents himself during concerts a lot though so I couldn’t help it
During weekender, the carts in the upper stands were unicorns with rainbow manes and yamada stuck his legs out and moving them as if he was riding a real horse. It was really cute c’:
During Kimi attraction for the chinen and inoo duet part they ran and half hugged each other and both tried to do different things which threw them both off and they just ended up waving at the camera. The second time they waved without hesitation wwww
Yamada was wearing dad glasses during the band segment and my reaction was nervous laughter because he looked so handsome lol
Any other person would’ve looked lame with those glasses on but it worked on him
During the encore Yuya’s shirt was cut so it was like an off-shoulder shirt on one side, and halfway through yuto pulled it lower and yuyan was like “stop it!!” while laughing
During the MC, they were talking about the miyagi promo and Hika was like “oh I just pass it off as if it’s not a big deal” and as they were talking about he made this face: :> with his cheeks puffed out and was looking around (it was soooo cute)
But then he said “....where is the camera?” And the others were like “are you an amateur at this job?!!” And then he awkwardly waved at the camera once he found it as if he really was an amateur
During the MC they also talked about solos as well the 7 and BEST unit songs. Apparently chinen ended up memorizing a lot of the choreography for songs he wasn’t involved in bc “he had free time” sasuga
Yabu: chinen ended up teaching hikaru the lyrics to the best unit song even though he wasn’t in it Amazing
I can’t quite remember what they were talking about beforehand but yamada suddenly went “put your hands up!!!” and started singing and dancing to the tune of Zunda dance and a few others joined in Yabu: the only ones who danced were the ones who went to NY and Yuya
Just in general the MC topics were: the solos, the unit songs + where they went (7 went to NYC and BEST went to miyagi), uchiwas (names, fanservice)
The first song of the encore was “arigatou~sekai no doko ni itemo~” And it felt more lighthearted than most other performances I’ve seen of it? Yamada esp looked like he was having a lot of fun and at one point he might have smiled at me it was so cute ;;;;
Yamada and Yuya were pretty extra during jealous guy wwwww I think everyone was but those two were especially something
Hika was wearing blue contacts!!! Not sure if that was why he was rubbing his eyes a lot or if it was sweat. I remember he did that sometimes during the I/O con I went to as well
Yamada’s drink of choice during the MC was cola
I think it might have been during wo ai need you??? Yamada was riding around in the unicorn cart and he blew a kiss at the audience
During come on a my house:
Inoo: do you want to go to Chinen’s house? Chinen, what do you think about that?
Chinen: I’ll send you all my address c:
They had a camera that pointed down onto the center stage which was used for songs like “TO THE GALAXY” and “do it again”. It was really cool
During a song (which I can’t remember right now gdi) yuto and yamada turned to look at each other and yuto smiled while yamada pretended to be annoyed and they looked away from each other. The perfect display of tsun and dere wwwww
Tonight’s key phrase in kimi attraction was “kimi ga ichiban da!” When it was yamada’s turn he said “Anata no koto ga CHUKI DESU” wwww
At one point yuto went in to hug yamada from behind but yamada didn’t notice at all so yuto gave up and kind of shrugged it off lol
My memory fails me on what song it was but as HSJ was walking along the runway that leads to center stage chinen was at the front so he did a flip, which was really impressive!!!! (Note from 2021 Sel: It was probably Chocolatta)
Some of the carts came by really close (yuto, yuya, inoo and Hika) to where I was. Yuyan waved at me and yuto saw my “shoot me” uchiwa so I did actually get shot ahhhh c’:
I really like the outfit that Hika wore for his solo and just in general I thought it was really cool c’: He stayed on the main stage so I got to look at him up close the whole time and he is so cute and cool
I love hikaru he’s a good bean
Yamada had a tattoo that said “sense or love” (I think?? It was a little hard to tell) on the left side of his neck and I kept on looking at it because I’m a dumbass who loves his jawline
I am absolutely delighted that Chocolatta was part of the set list because it’s one of my favourite b-sides and the choreography was really cool
During his last big solo in chocolatta, yamada did his thing where he looks straight into the camera and runs his hand down his face with his tongue out i hate this man
When they were heading back from center stage during the MC, Yuto was the first one to point out the audience in the front of the arena and he waved at us and said hi c’:
everyone was really cute during "One & One Makes Two" but Yamada smiling so hard his eyes squeezed shut after mouthing "one and one makes two" stabbed me in the heart
During Cosmic Human, during the Inoo and Yamada duet part, Yamada pressed his pointer finger against inoo's forehead with this big smile on his face wwwww
Also during YOU&I, Yamada and Inoo stood in the middle together and Yamada pat Inoo's head
during Dance the Night Away? Part of the main stage went down, then came back up with a huge logo saying Hey! Say! JUMP and each member was behind a letter or two that was in their colour. Yuto was at the end and lying behind everything so you could only see one arm and leg sticking out and then during his solo the camera zoomed in and you could see his face poking out of the middle of the "P" on JUMP wwwww (2021 Sel: It was actually “Swinging days”)

Daiki: it's no fair that 7 got to go to New York
Yabu: in the VTR yuto's just picking out keychains, but he looks cool doing it
Yuto: somehow being in NY made it look cool
Yabu: if it was me, it'd just look like a regular rest stop
Yuto: they were actually filming us when we were picking out souvenirs for all of you c:
Inoo: i couldn't get over the "it's my first time in NY" vibe that Chinen had in the video
Daiki: when i first saw it, I thought 'Is this Home Alone?"
Chinen: it was actually my second time there! but it was yutti's first time
Inoo: he looked like he was used to being there
Yabu: yeah...he didn't look lost at all
Yuto: I could go on that one show and be like "this is my 'another sky’!"
Yabu: i was messaging Yuto when he was in New York and he'd only respond to me in English, so I'd have to look everything up on Google translate and then reply
Yuto: I felt like I was getting better at English just being in New York
Yamada: It'd be scary if you got fluent in English just from one trip to New York

BEST talked about going to Miyagi. I unfortunately didn't catch a lot of this convo because it was a little confusing, but Hika talked about how people have been congratulating him/HSJ on being tourism ambassadors and then going "yeah yeah no big,” and the others would be like "That's where you're supposed to say thank you!!"
Hika: I went to Miyagi with Kenty from Zone Sexy
HSJ: Zone Sexy???
Hika: yeah Zone Sexy, and he congratulated me about the tourism thing and I just went "yeah yeah”
Daiki: we saw some grandpas and grandmas that we worked with when we were young too Yabu: yeah and they were like "oh...wait you're the kids from that time?" so it feels like we grew up
Yabu: we're on that train on the yamanote line too, promoting miyagi
Chinen: I had to take that train for a location shooting, I think for little tokyo life, and I was really embarrassed
Yuto: it's weird taking that train normally because you see yourself going "waaaa!" [imitating the jumping pose on the train ad] but regular you isn't that energetic so it's an interesting gap

Yamada: I have fans who put “call me ugly” on their uchiwas and I’m not sure what to do about that...like what do they feel from that??
Yabu: there’s a lot of fans who are masochists
Yuto: they must feel that they can’t really dispute it if yama says it
Yamada: that’s not true;;;;
Yuto: I have fans who tell me to “kill me with your eyes” and I’m not sure how I feel about that Yamada (I think? I can’t quite remember): oh how does that look?
*yuto glares and the audience cheers*
Yuto: but then I have to smile again or else I look like a crazy person!!
Yabu: that’s probably what they’re going for. They want to see the gap between [your angry face] and your smile after :>
Yuto: oh is that what it is?! They’ve manipulated me perfectly!!!!

On the topic of uchiwas Yabu: I’m happy to see so many with my name on it. Sorry about being Yabu. It must be difficult to make
Yuto: yeah the “Yu” in Yuuri is hard too. And Kei.
Yabu: must be nice having something easy like Yamada
Yamada: wait no mine is hard too!
Yabu: you’re just crossing lines
Yuto: you just cut out squares
Yamada: listen it must be hard cutting out 4 windows okay!!! Right?!!!! RIGHT???
Chinen: there’s so many yamada uchiwas because your name is easy
Yamada, looking hurt: eh? Is that why? That can’t be it right?
Yabu: yeah it’s not related to popularity your name is just easy
Yamada: don’t worry [my fans]. Only /I/ understand your struggle making my uchiwas
Also yuto said that maybe there’s a stamp for yamada’s name so it’s super easy to make, like “PON” and it’s finished

Chinen: I wonder if anyone has ever taken off part of the “yu” in my name to make the “ari” in Arioka (t/n: The “yu” (有) in Yuuri, is the same as in Daichan’s surname, “有岡”)
Daiki: I haven’t seen that but I have seen fans with my name on their uchiwa turn them over to say Yamada as soon as I came by
Yabu: you’re all so unfaithful but I want to be your number one anyway!!
Daiki: it’s fine...I don’t mind being number two

Yama: i saw Chinen listening to the BEST song pretending to be a DJ with a tissue box and going "put your hands up!" [mimicking the motions]
Chinen: i recommend all of you try it too

They were talking about how nice all the solo songs are, and that they keep on playing Bubblegum in the dressing room.
Yabu: Chinen's learned the choreography for solos that aren't his
Chinen: I had spare time [so I was bored]
Daiki: Chinen did come in for dance lessons pretty early...the teachers were like 'is this an after school club or something’
Daiki: Chinen would play "bubblegum" early in the morning
Yabu: and he remembered the choreography too
Chinen: if something ever happens to Dai-chan, call me
Then the other members started saying they wanted to see the Chinen ver. of bubblegum and hinting at Daiki having something unfortunate happen to him
Daiki: HE WON'T REPLACE ME WE'RE ALL GOING TO END THIS TOUR WITH NO INJURIES

Yabu: BEST has been dieting so we can look good in the outfits we're wearing for our unit song Inoo: Takaki and I have been eating salad every day
Yabu?: Takaki also brings brown rice [to the venue] every day
Yabu: when we asked him about it, he said "it's brown so it's good for you"
HSJ: what???
Yuya: it's brown so it has 0 calories!
Daiki: what kind of theory is this?
Yuya, to the audience: brown rice won't make you fat!
